The letter under the name of Les Trotman, chairperson of the Con- cerns, Safety and Security commit- tee, asks for information of plans in place In the event of a railroad disaster involving the spilling of chemnicals emitting toxic fumes and gases. Trotman said counicil members would be aware of the vulnerability of the Wilmot Creek development as there does flot seemn to be any quick and safe excess from the loca- tion. Trotman said he hiad thought of the possibility of evacuating the area by means of a new road easter- .Forthcom ing Marriage JOHNSON - L. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Johnson, Newcastle are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their eldest daughter, Kellie Mary, to Juke Box Saturday Night It is difficult to sit down at the television and enjoy a program of music from the swing era, those of the 30, 40, and early 50s., Certainly the Much Music channel is flot one presenting music to the taste of those in their late fifties or sixties and even seventies. Its too far out for thîs lstener what with the video- music craze for today. Buti-hcre is Channel 17, a good old standby, which in many ways bas some of the same attributes as the CBC. Channel 17 jumped into the thick of the swing era early Saturday evening wîth a Benny Goodman program te be followed by Juke Box Saturday Night. Now that's what we caîl music. It haç expression, it bas bounce, good mn, sound section play and Paul Edward, son of Mr. ar Edward Lane, Orono. Wedi take place June 23, 1990 p.m., Orono United Churcl presents singers with a back that the sinier ecin he hperd Theresa Brewer, Patti Page, Margaret Whiting, the lnk Spots and the McQuire sisters were al featured in their hit tunes of the 40s and 50s. We have often wondered just what happeneûj to that type of music knowing full well that cost was certainly one of the features of its demise. A band of eighteen to twenty on stage along with backup crews would certainly be an under- taking of great cost. But we have to realize also that Elvis came along and he swept the continents from sea to sea and pole to pole. And the Beatles are not to be forgotten and they did provîde some good music . . . in fact they drew just as much attention in their era as perhaps Glenn Miller did carlier. If music t rends have changed ly from the eastern side of the development whicb mhight join up with Mill Street in the Village of Newcastle. He said it would caîl for a bridge across the Wilmot Creek to carry cars. Trotman points out that although there is a gravel road running south of the railroad in an easterly direc- tion he felt it would flot be permit- ted or safe in the case of a chemnical spill. The letter then asks for advice of what precautions should bec taken at Wilmot Creek in order that the residents may conform strictly to any plan for evacuation. 1The rail line runs the full length of the developmnent along- the nor- thern boundary. The letter was referred to the Durham Regional Police who are in authority of any evacuation plan for the citizens i the Region. Christian Corner . 0. by Rev. Marg West Jealousy and Envy or Health and- Weil Being? There is so much jealousy and en- vy in our society today it's no wonder there is so much sickness. You can't live in a state of jealousy and envy and expect to keep in goodhealth. It's the very opposite of one another. Jealousy and envy can cause rotteness of the Bones ac- cording to Prov. 14:30, "A sound heart (healthy, peaceful people) is the life of the flesh: but envy the rotteness of the Bones." You can get sick wanting what everyone else has instead of being content with what you have. In Proverbs 6:34 it says that jealousy is the rage of man. Jealousy - resentfully suspicious or envious; Envy - Feeling or show- ing envy, to be covetous, grudging or jealous; Covet - to desire en- vouisly that which belongs to another; Rag e - furious anger, violent anger. No ones body can stay in a state of well being if you are living like that. Who cares anyway what your neighbour has, he has .to pay for it kiflot us. So what if he has a new car, huge house, new boat. l'm flot go- ing to be the least bit concerned Lnd Mrs. about it, l'm flot going to make dding to myself sick by gettmng into a state of at 4:00 jealousy over it. My blood pressure h. is going to stay normal and my stomach is flot having ulcers. 1 also refuse to have migraine headaches over something as- foolish as jealousy. We bring a lot of illness on ourselves by the way we live,,talk and think. Our minds can be like pressure cookers, ready to explode. Our blood vessels expanded to the maximum because we mind everyones business but our own. In Il Cor. 13:11 Paul is telling the krud brethren (Christians), "to be grun perfect, be of good comfort, be of over the years, and they have, so have those of dancing. In the 30s and 40s it was the fox trot in vogue and the dancers travelled around the dance floor to the beat of a ballad or swing. 0f course there was other trendy dances that lasted for a number of months and then died in popularity. The Lindy Bounce would be one such dance, in and out. Being an old-timer we fail to see the dance trend of today. There's a type of rhythm but one only needs about a four foot square for the dance. The main things in aIl this is to enjoy what you have at the time. We certainly thank Goldie for Saturday.night's program. It was a good two hours of listening as memories jumped back into time. one mi, live in peace and the God of love and peace shaîl be with' you."1 Be of good courage you can live in peace and comfort with the God'. of love and peace Jesus Christ. He can help you live in a happy and peaceable life free from jealous'y and strife. Remember you can't buy peace, but you can receive it free, from Jesus.
