Melissa Allun was in Pre-Novice Dance' and Tracy Eames was in Novice Ladies Freeskate. Music Notes With coloured leaves and cooler temperatures cames a new season of music. The senior and-intermediate concert bands, the senior and in- termediate stage bands as well as the, jazz choir have been busying themselves ta bring you the best of entertainment. The senior concert band extends a warm welcome ta its new members. In 1990 we were suc- cessfully awarded a silver medal at ans International Music Festival in NSw Orleans, Louisianna. W"ith that accomplishment tucked into aur music cases, we've begun plan- ning anather trip ta participate in another international festival in 1992. To get aur minds and in- struments geared up for the caming event wýe lhope ta compete in a local festival this spring. Splish, splash give your car a bath - or better yet let the band do t! On September 29th in the Orono IGA parking lot the concert band will be holding a car wash. Just drive down between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and we'll have yaur car washed by the time you're finished your grocery shopping! Girls Basketbail Long practices, hard work, ca- operatian, communication, desire and high spirits are words ta describe aur Clarke Raider girls this year. The girls arepreparing for a promising season, beginning in Oc- tober and are improving each prac- tice. The Senior girls represented Clarke in a Lakefield taurnament with some junior players ta help out in numbers and skill ]ast weekend. Althaugh the scoreboard showed defeat, aur girls won experience against thie nmuch bigger schiools. held next summer. Melissa 9 and her partner Mark, skated in the competitive dance pro- gram in Thornhill and Tracy was in the competitive Freeskate program in Ottawa during July. Both girls will be representing Orono at Sectionals this faîl. .Congratulations girls! Congratuations ta the Clarke Raiders for dis>playing much en- thuisiasm and high spirits throughouti the tournament. Good ILuck toaail the teams in the upcaming seasan. More informa- tion on game times will be presented later this month. Anyone wishing ta corne out and cheer the Clarke Raiders are welcome and ap- preciated. Senior Boys Volcybali The senior boys volleyball team travelled ta Madoc for the 4th An- nual Centre Hastings McDonalds Classic Volleyball Tournament this past weekend. Clarke won the tour- nament last year and took home a silver medal this year. With four starters gone from last year the younger players did an excellent job of filling the hales in the finals. Col- onel By is a very large school with a student population of about 200 while Clarke has about 500 students. Clarke played excellent ta beat some very good teams and re- mains ta he one of the top teams in high school volleyball again this year. Kevin Scott, Brent Evers and Mark Tranter were three of the young players who played a key role in this weekends second place finish. Congratulations! Student Services, The peer counsellors got off toaa great start in Student Services at Clarke High School this year.
