The -one excep- tion was councillor Hooper who questioned that there was no men- tion of the $175,000 in a report from the treasurer. On Monday the general purpose committee did receive a treasurer's report as to funds received from the old arena. It was noted that the Town received $60,000 from the, developer whose proposais were not completed. With this amourit the Tow n spent $45 ,442 on the develop- ment of a park at the arena- site leaving a balance of $14,558., The treasurer, Marie Marano, recommended that the surplus be placed in the Arena Reserve Fund Marcia Blaschke, Yvonne past chairperson, complete tieing reminder of Canadian troops in Maitland, chairperson of the yellow ribbons on the trees the Persian Gulf area and for their Orono Downtown Business trunks in Downtown Orono as a safe return. The treasurer's report also noted t he Town had recevied almost dou- ble what was expected from Win- tarlo with a total of $625,000 which would more than offset the $175,000 expected from the sale of the old arena. It was pointed out that the $14,558 would represent no more than a fifth of a mili on the 1991 tax bill and would mean no more if ap- plied to the annual debenture charge of W47,082 for 1991. Council supported the recom- mendation of the treasurer. Counc.- Hamre spoke of the $175,000 figure and said that it was really a figure pulled out of the hat at the time of discussing financing of the new arena. She said the reali- ty was - the building was neyer sold. 45c. Incudes tax
