Mr. Kormos will be speaking i Craig French at General Motors Before starting co-operative education in September, I liad every intention to study to become a computer programmer. Co-op can change things. I the beginning of September, I started two co-operative education placements, with General, Motors of Canada, and Applied Medical Technologies of Ajax. At both of these placements I serve as a computer programmer. 1 have been working at both placements concurrently altemating between themn on week- by-week basis. I will be continuing through to June to complete my credits for co-op. 1 will begin by discussing what I have been doing at General Motors. I work for, Mr. Harry Perkins who is the Assistant Manager for market planning at the new GM office on the 401. 1 have finished up the work begun by two other co-op students fromn Clarke. The program. that has been written will competitively compare two vehicles for their features, and their pricing. This lias been a challenging project. I am now going to start on a new project at GM. 1 have learned-a lot about how big business is mun, and how the car business works. The other placement I work at is Appiied Medical Technologies based in Ajax. I work for Dr. Ken Buttoo who is the president of the company. The project I have been working on is known as the Ajax Lifepass System. This system is a complete medical record storage/analysis system. Each patient is issued a card the size of a credit card, where their entire medical history is stored. On this program, 1I developed a word processor, data entry system, a database management systeml graphing capabilities and mucli more. This program lias been a super-challenge, since there lias been many deadlines to meet, and difficult sessions to prograin. I must at this point thank my past co-operative education employer Mr. Michael Bail of COM- PRODIX Development Corp. for' everything lielias taughtme. Gradually over the last semester 1 have taken up an interest in medicine, and I would like to pursue this profession. In conclusion, co-op is the ultimate career finder. I started witli every intention to become a computer programmer, and now 1 come out wanting to become a doctor. I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to confirm wliat they would like to pursue. COMING EVENTS February 22nd PD.
