14-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, M ay 15, 1991 A B ood Weddin g" at St. Stephien 's High by Vicki Oaudreault St. Stephens High School in Bowmanville presented "Blood Wedding, A Drarnatic Tragedy', on May 8, 9 10, and 11. Much preparation was put into this well acted production under the watchfül eye of director/producer, Mr. John Sheridan, the eheoi's drama teacher and veteran theatrical producer. The production stems fromi Spanish playwright and poet Frederico Garcia Lorca's 1935 play, "Bitter Orleander", reissued as "Blood Wedding" in 1939. It is a story about love, passion and deceit which gels in the way of family traditions and ends in natures tragic victory. The 7use of vivid imagery and lyrical poetry and the adaptation of Spanish folk songs in much of the original dialogue makes it somnewhat d'fficlt to undGerstanid, buti, s the way t-he author had matit to-be an-d the way the 2 1 actorSrs inthe cast had tried to recapture it. If tiS Production (of Blood Wedding is anDy indication, this smnall town high sholis prcoducing some of, the best up anld cmÏng acting talents around.
