It was a spread indeed! you breakfast for volunteers, last Staff of Newcastle Public Friday morning, June 21. Schooi in appreciation for ail the Everything from fresh fruit trne and workput in by parent cocktail, to croissants to biscuits, volunteers throughout the year, put danishies, sweets, cheeses and on an absolutely gorgeous thank watermnelon tempted one and ail. Three or four trnes a year, residents of the Newcastle Village Centre put on a speciai event 10 raise funds for their "Residents' Council". These funds are then directed towards whatever residents at the nursing home need or want at that particular time. The June Strawberry Tea Social and Bazaar heid last Saturday, Jane 21 was certainly no exception! As the sun finaliy shone through, visitors and family mnembers filtered downstairs at the centre to be treated 10 complimentary strawberry shortcake, tea and coffee. Across the hall was a di spiay of country crafts available for purchase, aong with a very popular bake table and yet another table offering various "goodies" donated frorn local merchants, to be won by tickets sold. Support given by the foilowing local businesses is tremendously appreciated by residents and staff of the Newcastle Heaith Care Centre. Front Newcastle, Stedmans, Roots Hair Design, Gruffies, Annie's Restaurant, Guardian Drugs, Newcastle IDA, Newcastle Lumber and Flowers Pl us, and from Bowmianvîlle, Cody's Restaurant, The Bottom Line, and Active Bodies. Throughiout the year, our Kinsmen and Kinettes continue to POP mb othe. centre 10 visit with resideints and to donate funds or fodd at Christma-s time or New Year's. 1 would lîke to thank Activity Director Allison Callacott and her Assistant, Diane Aiidread for their hospitality ... two dedicated gais withi energy to spare for their cause.
