Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, July 10, 1991-13I Bill Bramah's Ontario Creemore is a friendly littie village south of Collingwood with a quiet country charm, and abounds in century-old homes on tree ined streets.' But in a bungalow just off the main street, different kinds of old homes are being built. They're miniatures of the real thing. They vary in sîze - averaging about eight by 12 inches. They look like houses you might see in Toronto's Rosedale or Baycrest or even Cabbagetown, but could be anywhere. They'r>e crafted in a small basement workshop by 71 year old Terry Miliman who, Mhen he retired five years ago, mioved from the city to Creemore and began making the hlte bouses as a hobby. His wife Fran became interested and now does ail of the detailed painting. They got their ideas at first from pictures of homes in magazines. Neighbours saw some of their work, word got around and people began bringing photos of their own houses to see if they could get miniatures made from them. "The whole thing got away from us," says Terry. 'It was taking a lot of time and material so we had to start charging for the jobs." When we were there, -the Milimans were completing a reproduction of a heritage house in Aliston tLhat was the home of John Fisher, one of the founiders of dhe town. It was a beautifual mini- h'Ouse complete with gingerbread decor and a balcony. They had a phiotograph of the Drury- Hutchison house, also of Aliston, and had been commissioned by the Aliston Historical Society to build a miodel of it. Along with that, Fran was in the process of painting a small version of an old house that still exists in Bradford, near Holland Marsh. As a result of word of mouth MORTGAGES "J.R" HAS LEFT DALLAS!
