The tips proved very useful in my own household, and perhaps above all in my offices. Our efforts to "green up" are paying off! I have decided to pull out our Office environmental score card in the hope it may encourage those flot already as green in their offices as they could be. For a start, we no longer use any polystyrene cups. Glass coffee cups are our order of the day. My staff do draft revisions on the computer of ail letters and reports to eliminate paper drafts. We avoid using materials which cannot be recycled sucli as gummed labels, post-it notes, carbon papers, ditto and mimeo stencils, thermofax copy paper and window envelopes. Al our letters are written on recycled non-bleached paper. We reuse old file liolders, and use circulation lists for memos, journals and press clippings instead of making copies for al. We make serous attempts to use botli sides of -paper wliere possible, in our communications. We also make sure that our computers and phiotocopy machines are aIl turned off wlien- we leave. We try to say no to over packaged goods, and we also try to use Our e a brown manila envelopes again. It does take some effort on the part of everyone in the office. To act environmentally usually means changing the way were used to doing things. Mostly, it's just a matter of learning new habits. The bottom ulne is that our consumer society must develop into a conserver society. Both myseif and my staff are trying to help this process - will you help as well?
