Cooper made application for licenses for the operation of pool tables in their places of business. This was left over until the next meeting. Nearly $24,000 worth of real estate was threatened on Monday morning at 7:15 a.m. when the fire department was called out to combat a blaze that started in the attic of Orono Continuation School. Part of the roof on the east side of the buil ding was burned. The damnage was estimated at $300 and is fully covered by insurance. Lynburst then returned to Orono to play a sudden deatb gamne for the cbarnpionsbip. However, when they arrived theydidnt ice a team, so were obligcd to default the game to Orono. The Orono Continuation School Commencement Exercises will be held in the Town Hall, Orono, on Friday evening, March 25rh. Work is underway for the extension of the Department of Lands and Forests water system, which will give the more recently acquired property the advantage of water in connection with the growing of'trees. The R. L. Blythe Construction Co. bas charge of the work. The first gaine in the semi final playoffs between Orono Juniors and Acton in the Bowmanville Arena on Monday evening last, resulted in a wmn for Orono by a score of 4 to 2 in a well closely fought contest. The Orono Juniors also defeated Acton ia the second gaine and the winner of the Lynden and Milverton series will play Orono for the chamnpionship. The gaine is called for Monday, April 4th at tie Oshawa arena at 8:30 p.m. Work-is still progressing on the Town Hall, where Mr. Percy Chapnian and bis belpers are busily engaged making some necessary changes to the bui:lding. We are happy to report a marked improvement in the condition of little B renda Mitchell, daugbter of Mr. and Mis. George Mitchell, wbo bas been ill in Oshawa Hospital.
