Council Briefs Counc. Hannah and Hamnre presented a motion to council on Monday that could ultimately provide Blue Boxes for ail residents in the rural area. The proposai is subject to a staff review and a staff report. It was noted that the Blue Box program only exists in the urban areas of the Town. Hannah said it would cost some $16,000 to provide rural residents with a blue Box that would be used to contain and transport recyclables to the drop-off centres. He said rural residents could then feel part of the program and that everyone becomes involved in the blue box program. Counc. Hamare said she supported the move notîng that it was subject to a review and report before any action would be taken. Counce. Hooper gained support from council members for the installation of a bike rack at the north side of the Administrative Building in Bowmanville. He said there had been a number of requests for such an installation. Mrs. Helene Kraayvanger, Metcalf Street, 'Newcastle, in speaking to counceil on Monday requested the installation of a street light at 92 Metcalf Street. .She said they were payîng for such a service and that it should be included at their property. The Town is spending an amount of $35,000 for lakefront erosion work on Town owned property at Cedar Crest Beach i Bowmanvile and at Park Street ini the Village of Newcastle.
