Mucli of the controversy resulted through reports that Ontario Hydro Chairman and CEO, Marc Eliesen is 'to be paid $400,000 a year. The salary proposed for Mr. Eliesen was detcrmined according to this method. i have had some trouble undcrstanding this controvcrsy, since the salary proposed for Mr. Eliesen is considcrably lowcr, than the one set by the previous governmet, for the person hie is rcplacing. The Liberal leader, has claimcd that the revelation of the previous Hydro Chairnans salary is a violationi of the Frecdom of Informationi and Protection of Individual Privacy Act. 1 don't subscribe Io the dlaim made. one of -the criteria for establishiing whethcer tification exists is whether thc - ,,,,clogurc is desirabie forth purpose of subjecting the government or it's agencies to public scrutiny.
