HAR-DWOO-D ~ ~DUTY Christian Corner by Rev. Marg West From Thanksgiving to Fright- Giving Well once again we have just gotten over Thanksgiving and now Halloween is upon us. One weekend we are givmng thanks, and mhe next we are trying to frighten people half to deamh. Do you have any fears in your life? Are you afraid of the dark? Are you frightened to be alone at night? What about spiders, bats, black cats?We truly are odd people when we like to and get pleasure out of scaring somneone. Have you noticed when chîldren are out on Halloween night, that if somneone with a scary mask on cornes up and yells boo how they almost try to crawl inside of something or someone. Its flot just children who have fears, children grow up to be adults and they stili have the samne fears with a few more added in along life's path. Perhaps some of the fears in your life stems back from just such situations, maybe being locked in your room in the dark etc. Young children when mhey get frightened by such scary mhings need help to get over it. They are afraid to go to bed at night always needing a light on, or afraid to be away from momn or dad. Fear is a really debilitating mhing. In 2 Timothy Chapter 1 verse 7, "He (God) has flot given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind." Fear is not of God. God neyer gives us the spirit of fear. So mhen we would need to be delivered from the spirit if its flot from God, wouldn't we? Satan 'is the one who likes to keep us in a state of fear because we cant possibly funcuion normially in fear. Some people don't want to go a a shopping for food because mhey are to fearful of mhat situation. Others can't look after their families because fear rules i their lives. But Praise the Lord, mhere is help. Jesus came to set the captives free. John Chapter 7 verse 36 says that, If mhe son therefore shail make you free you shall be free indeed free from whatever bas you in fear or terror."1 Ini Galatians Chapter 5 verse 1 the Lord tells us to "Stand fast therefore in th liberty where with Christ bas made you free and be not entangled again wimh the yoke of bondage." Fear is bondage and Jesus came to set us free, but you have to know mhat and believe it to be able to act on it. Jesus can set you free from ail YOur hassles if youll cali on Hum. It 15 s0 simple just ask Hum to corne ito your life. Comments or Questions? Write Box 179, Orono. Bible Student Tuesday, 7:30, 983-5962. Watch total Christiani television Ch. 49, Buffalo. Corne to agreement over Elizabethville intersection Two residenits last year at an intersection of a Hope Township Road wîth County Road 9 in Elizabethville requested miat one of mhe double accesses to the Couxpty Road be closed. The suggestion was followed but mhis year the two were back asking that mhe closed portion, be re-opened as it was cramping large trucks on mhe remaining road. The one road is to stay closed but mhe remaining road is to be widened to allow better access onto County Road 9. Orono Novice visit Millbrook Orono Novice were 'in Millbrook Sunday aftemoon for their second league gaine of the season. t was a close game in which Orono came out on the losing end of a 3-2 score. Early in the gaine it looked as though Orono was taking control of thre play. Our boys got off to an impressive stant scoring first, just 1 minute into the garne. Making the first strike for Orono was Greg Shetier assisted by Paul Landers. Orono kept the pressure on but two minutes later Millbrook managed to find the Orono goal. Then, when Paul Landers picked up a tripping penalty, Millbrook took advantage of their power play to take a2-1 tead. The momentum seemed to be ail in Millbrook's favour as they scored another goal early in the second period. At the mid point of the period Orono pressed again and Greg Shetler came up with bis second goal on a very nice pass from Tyler Robinson. In tme third period both teams had their chances. IMillbrook had to MI two penalties but, >still kept thre majorlty of the play in the Orono end zone. t was superb goaltending by Mike Gibson that kept the game within reach. Unfortunately, Orono could not take advantage of their opportunities and went on to lose by a 3-2 score. Lt was a good outing for our boys. With each game they are becoming more of a force to be reckoned with. Keep up the good work, boys and coaches. Next game will be a tough one as Omnemee visits Orono Wednesday at 7:00 pa.
