Funding in the amount of $175,000 has been allotted to prepare the facility for joint use with proper washrooms, office space, and sewer service. The samne site is used for dog control kennels. The montes will also be used to update and improve the appearance of the entrance alongside -the facility. Canton, teenager makes it to OlympicSý Nineteen year old Caro Angus has received word that shehas been named to' the Canadian equestrian team to compete in Barcelona late in July. -Caro and hier horse Flag have been in competition, over the past year in a challenge to be picked for the Canadian tenen. She had finished within the top third in all competitions which gave hier tie opportunity to bc part of the Canadiani team. The Canton teenager will compete in the three- day event including cross country, stadium jumping along with dressage. County proceeds with dump study Northumberland county is going ahead with a $50,000 study for a dump in Haldimand Township. The Township and a citizens group have stated they will take every means to block a development of a dump at the county proposed site. Separate School Board appoints Director The Separate School Board for Peterborough Victoria, Northumberland and Newcastle has appointed a new director, Don Foîz who will take over his new duties as of January 1, 1 993'. Foltz has been a superintendent for the Separate school board for the past-eleven years. The Board had 14 applications for the position of director. Await funding for non-profit housing A non-profiting housing plan of 49 unifs in Port Hope is. on hold awaiting funding, as promised, from the provincial govemment. The project was expected to have- been started this summer. The start-up could now be delayed until this winter. A matter of a community spirit Through the effort of a nIumberof volunteers and the Granary Restaurant in Bethany the community now have a Meals on Wheel service. Meals on Wheels service did reach out into Manvers Township from Millbrook but it was found that Millbrook could not service both the Village and the Township including Bethany. As a result volunteers and the Granary have provided the needed service. Junior hockey in Po rt Hlope flot to be Efforts made by a Whitby businessman to introduce Junior A or B hockey in Port Hope is all over for the time being.
