Auto Workers Community %Credit Union holds officiai opening at O rono vBýranch The Auto Workers Community Credit Union held the Official Opening of their branch mn Orono on Friday of last week. The opening was well attended along with a visit by the Hon. Brian Charlton, Minister of Financial Institutions. The new Orono Branch with iost up-to-date banking facilities is an outcomne of a merger in 1990 between the Auto Workers Union and the former Olrono and District Credit Union. One of the conditions of ta union was a branch office in Bowmaniville as well as a brandi office in Orono. This union also opened the door for the Auto Workers Community Credit Union to provide service in the Town of Newcastle. Steve Nimigon, president of the Credit Union, stated that the Auto Workers Credit Union had been in existence for 54 years. It now has a memhership of 26,000 members of wbich 4,000 are residents of the Town of Newcastle. The Credit Union has assets totalling $200 million. It was a family day at the Oshawa Ski Club hill east of Kirby last Saturday and Sunday when SAGA in co-operation with the ski club provided ententainmnent and chainlift rides to view the country- side in its fait colours. Not only did those volunteering their tîme for the event but also those who attended, mostly family units, found the event to be most enjoyable. The chairlift into heights above the hilîs was a slow isu,!rely trip up and back and as many rides as you wished. To say the least the trip skyward was relaxing and the faîl colours were still about. it is estimated somne eight hundred took advantage of the lift ride. -BtthMe activities didnt rest with the cbairlift rides. The club bouse was in use for refreshments with an interesting menu, hot dogs, fried green tomatoes, hot beverages and what turned out to be the favourite hom-made soup.
