Sheila Shautz, the go-getting young manager of the market, introduced me ta Joe Knechtel who was watching the sale. Known as "the man with the cawbay lhat", Je was one of the vendors when the market opened thirty-odd yeas ago. He was eight-two when I saw him, but hie looked about sixty.
