To make votive cand les, wax is scooped up and poured into a trough. It flows like a bobbling brook into small containers embedded in the trough. Votive candle-s have roots in deep meýdie-val times and you may have seen them in some churches. T cre5ate pillar candles, the wax is, poured into special m-oulds, Some of the candles are about two feet high and will hum for four hundred hours. But I found the process of making taper candies, the ones more familiar to us, thec most drarnatic oftah. Wicks are sLtung betwcee nmetlal rings. After that, theyre hung on taper dipping carrousel. There are about twenty units that look ike bird cages and they go round and round, up and downi, being dpe in wax, After thirty cips for colour and two for fragrance. they become the finished producis. 14 eichiýfij can ttrn out five ýthdusaild candies a day. If they wentinto automation they could do far better than that. But Bob and Barb prefer to keep it simple andretain the romance of the old ways. .Theyre right too. With the hassies of big business, they might find themselves burning the candies at both ends. Besides, visitors love the place the way it is, and 1 notice that over in thue retail section, -sales will hurn brightly.
