When asked what was his secret in keeping peace on the bus he said it al had to do with psychology and he was quick to give somne examples how it al works. But most of ail he recails a snow storm some 23 years past when the road fromn Kirby to Kendal was covered with 12 feet of snow. t is only whiffs that we, get now compared to that storm hie stated. If you listen to those who were uinder his wing on the way and from school Allan Downe.s did have a way of working out al the wrinkles of the cure of his charges. And if you take 26 years it could have been that mom and dad were tripped off to school as were their children in later years. 1Allan is also proud of a Certificate of Safety which has been presented to him by the- Ontario Teachers' Federation. But it was Allan Downes' day in Kendal on Saturday and with his friends, he and his wife were showered with gifts by his former employer and as well friends of the communîty. The gifts also included a lazy-boy chair and plaque from his former employer. Allan is now free to visit his Amish friends in the U.S., make trips out to western Canada where hîs înterest lies in the heritage of, the area as well as second-hand farm machinery.
