A garden wedding te take placeiJune l8th, 1994. Don't blame the mailman Over the past couple of years, following a change in the systemn of delivering mail out of Orono te the neighbouring communities of Newcastle, Newtonville and Kendal it bas been an early rise Wednesday momning. At five forty-five a.m. a cali comes from Donna that I must be on the meve and it off te Newtonville, then Port Hope prier te seven and back te Bowmanville sbortly after seven and on te the stores in Newcastle. We don't just like getting up at this heur for the fun of it but if tbe whole tbing was left te Canada Post the Orono Times wouldn't arrive te our neîgh- bouring cemmunities until semectime the week following. That has been the experience and net likely it bas improved over the past year. When Canada Post made the change the Orono Times left Orono te first be transported te Toronto, then back te Bewmanville fer Newcastle delivery and te Port Hope for Newtonville and Kendal. Newspapers are net a priority item as first class mail and the trip around was taking upwards of a week at times. To short circuit the run-around we now pay for the mailing at Orene and take Newtonville- Kendal papers te the serting office in Port Hope and the Newcastle papers te Bowman- This works nilch be-tter and it is possible that Ihe papers couid be in the hands of the subscriber by Wednesday pon, no need for anything later titan Thursday. I must aise say thiat those at botb post offices are jnost rindly and helpfu 1. Last week 'bris was taking phone calîs in abundance Thursday with dthe Orono Times net arriving te die Newtonville, Kendal and qewcastle sub- scribers, On Friday t!ie message came eut that the papefs had arrived but that 1 had left the Bowmanviile bag in Port Hope and the Port Hope bag in BU>wmaflville. Al figures were pointed te me as the cuiprit. Now one wdjuld wonder how eut of just two mail bags, well labelled, one could cause such a mix-up. But tle evidence was conclusive even though I couldn't imagine it happ2nlng. 1 took the, full responsibilitY. Having c0ffee with Bill Bunting and ih Carmian a couple of days later at Dulees I told the story. d'f course they just sbook their heacis and mentioned old age setting id. But Bill Carnian suggested that, perhaps the problemn of the mix- up was in the freper tagging of the bags. Hey I nieyer theught of that and here 1 was taking ail the flack when perhaps there was someone else jnvelved in this mix-up. This was mjontîoned te Chnis but there was n& push to resoive just what miglif have happened. Best te share the responsibiiity and hope for Wetter things in the future. But don't blaffle the mail man). r DENTISTRY FOR THE FAMILY <General Dentistry including Orthodonties and Implan ta) DR. B. KOSTIUK, B.Sc., D.DS.
