Orono played one of their better defensive games of the, season as 1hey shut out the Oshawa team by a score of 4 to 0. The defensive pairs of Glencoe Hogle and Matt Reid and Tyson Gimblett and Chris Bouley did an excellent job of clearing rebounds and moving the puck out of their own endwhile Lee Allun in the Orono goal stopped every shot that did comehis way 1:0 collect his third shutout of the season. The offense for the night was taken care of by Collin Cureatz- and Justin Standeven who each scored two goals with two assists going 1:0 Jeff Thompson and one 1:0 Chris Kirkbride. This was a well earned team victory with everyone doing his part. Cupid wasn't kind 1:0 Orono as his arrows must have had the boys mind off of the aggressive styleof hockey that they had 1:0 play 1:0 handle the Newcastle select team when they played them early Valentines morning. Orono fell behind 3 te-0O before Jamie Rowe scored unassisted on a clearing pass that deflected in off of a Newcastle defencemnan midway through the second- period. Jeff Thompson scored the nicest goal of the game as he broke in alone after being sent into the clear on a pass from Jamie Rowe. It was not enough however as Orono tired in the later stages of the game, playing with only ten players and allowing Newcastle four unanswered goals 1:0 take a 6 mo 2 victory. Orono had several good chances but couldnt find the mark and finish them off. Our next gamne should be very interesting as we play the undefeated Newcastle girls team next Fnïday evening at 8:00 p.m. in Orono.
