On Tuesday, March 2nd Camsport playcd Carters at the Bowmanville Rec Complex, and won with a 9-2 score. It was another great game for # 1 1 Josh Couture as he notched another five goals. Assisting hum in this effort were # 3 Brad DaSilva, # 8 D.J. Boardinan and # 9 John HaUi. John Patrick Pisani # 12, was able to put two goals on the board for his teain. He was assisted by # 14 Kyle Moore and # 15 Aaron Robinson. Finishing out the scoring was # 1 Maît Gregg, assisted by # il Josh Couture and # 17 Chris Kirkbride assistedl by -# il Josh Couture. Carters was, able 10 put 2 goals past our goalie Nick Lucyk who. played a great game. The next evening Camsport hosted National Trrust in their home arena, and treated the fans to a Barn Burner of a gaine. National Trust jumnped ahead by 2 goals early in the gamne but Orono was able to put one in at 3:13 with # Il Josh Couture assisted by # 5 Michael Knapp and # 3 Brad DaSilva, makcing the score 2-1 National. Orono tied the game in the second pcriod with # 2 for Josh Couture, assistcd by # 2 Shawn Dcjohn. Orono went ahcad 3-2 at 7:48 on a ha-trick goal for # 33 Josh Couture, but' National Trust fought back to tie ,Novice it ai 3 before the end of the second pcriod. It lookcd bleak for Orono Camsport as National Trust went ahead by two goals early in Uic third pcriod. The score stood at 5-3 until the hast 3 minutes of thc game when Uic boys put on a show that the fans will remember for a long time. With 2:20 remaining, # 14 Kyle Moore scored, assistcd by #, il Josh Couture and # 17 Chris Kirkbride. With 1:09 remaining, Kyle Moore lied the gaine, assisted by # 12 John Patrick Pisani. And with only 21 seconds reniaining # Il Josh Couture put in the winning goal unassisted. making the score 6-5. it was a good effort and neyer say die attitude that won the gamne. The tcami participated in the BRHL tournamnent in Darlington on March 6Ui but did not fare as well. Their first game saw thein lose 4-1 to Liberty Mutual with thei r goal scored by # il Josh Couture and they also lost in their Second game 5-1 to National Trust with our goal scored by # 1 Matt Gregg, assisted by # 14 Kyle Moore. Dufferin Aggregates in shootout Friday, March 5Ui saw Orono's Dufferin Aggregates host Rotary Club of Bowmanville. The game became a shootout with Dufferin unable to regain their early first period lead. At just 30 seconds into the first period, Orono's Matt Caruana opcned scoring with an unassisted breakaway goal. Minutes, later, Rotary slipped their first past Orono's goalie Jef Mercier. Bryan Bickell workcd persistently and it paid off for hum by collecting the second Dufferin goal. ThIis woulId be the last that Dufferin would lead. Rotary managed threc unanswered tallies before Matt Caruana scored a much neded unassisted goal on a breakaway to bripg Orono to within one goal as the first period ended 4-3 Rotary. The second period started with Dufferin on a powerplay for the first two minutes as Rotary had taken a slashing penalty in the dying seconds of the first. Orono was unable to take advantage of the extra man on this occasion. Goalie Jeff Mercier played a solid second frame with the opposition only able to beat hum' once, rhat coming froin a scramble. Brian Bickle cashed in on Dufferini's second 'man advantage with a nice backhander from the slot. That goal brought Orono to within one. The beginning of the third period had Matt Caruana score on an inside thc blueline breakaway. Rotary then responded with two quick goals. Duffcrin's Dustin Weagant helped the cause by rapping the puck in to make the score 7-6 Rotary. Again, Rotary's answer was yet another goal. With Matt Caruana's fourth goal of the evening the gaine was again within reach for Orono. However, ail was for not as Rotary ended Uic scoring with an unassisted breakway goal as Dufferin pressed bard to tie the game on their final shift. This 9-7 loss was just the fourth defeat of the season for Dufferin. Our boys again go up against Rotary Club this Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Bowmanville. Game 1 MVP Matt Caruana led the charge with 4 goals and-Curtis Robinson added a single assisted by Shane Gonsalves. The game was marked by the excellent defensive play of Jeff Larsh, Doug Myles, Tyler Brown, JeremyMcKee, Nathan Adegeest and Colin Baker who limited the Bruins scoring opportunities to give Bowmanvîlle the victory. The opposition in game two was a determined teamn from Vaughn whvio put up a good fight for the Bowmnanville team.,Matt Caruana again started the Optimists on their way but this time it was a preuy pass to Bryan Barchard who scored to give Bowmanville the early 1-0 lead. The favour was returned less than a minute later when Ryan Evans' and Bryan Barchard set up Matt for his 5th goal of the tournament. Colin Baker finished the lst period scoring with a great individual preserve t he win. Major showed some life in the final frame as they held their opponients scoreless. Scoring for Family Trust were Alan Robb, Jordan Bate, James Griffin, and Brandon Hadwitter. Picking up the lone assist was Alan Robb. A well deserved shutout was registered by goaltender Michael Shrives. One of the few highlights for Major Plumbing was an attempted penalty shot by centre Greg Shetier. Unfortunately Greg was a little over anxious as his shot missed the open side. Better luek next time Greg! Matt Caruana scored at the midway mark of the third to restore the two goal lead and Jason Emond finished thc scoring froin Garret Nemisz and Jason Hicks to make it a 5-2 final. Congratulations to Andrew Rahme who celebrated his birthday by being thc game 2 MVP- for his excellent goaltending. The championship final pitted Bowmanvile against a team froin London andi once- agaîn Matt Caruana scored early from Ryan Evans- and Bryan Barchard to put Bowmanville out in front 1-0. The second period became an ahl Bowmanville affair as Matt Caruana scored twice more for thc natural hat-trick and Ryan Evans' assisting on botb goals. Garret Nemisz added a solo and Jason Hicks rounded oui the second pcriod on a goal assisted by Garrett to make it 5-0. Ryan Evans got a teain record 4th assist and Bryan Barchard got bis 3rd of Uic gamne when thcy £eamed up wiUi Jason Hicks early ini the third peniod. Curtis Robinson picked up bis second goal of the day on a nfice passing play from Tyler Brown and Shane Gonsalves. London broke Uic. shutout wiUi 4 minutes left in the gamne and Jason Emond once again finished the scoring with Matt Caruana and Shane Gonsalves assisted to make il ant 8-1 final.
