Orono Roughley Novice wind down season The Orono OMHA Novice hockey team slarled their game activity Wednesday nighl in Orono when they hostcd the Bruins of the Oshawa Littie NHL. Orono started quîckly wilh a goal on the first shift of the game when Jeff Thompson scored unassisîed on a fine shot 10 the top corner of the net. Oshawa came back wîth two goals before the period cndcd 10 take the lead. It was short lived however as Tyson Gimblett converted a Collin Cureatz pass early i the second te tde the game. Oshawa responded with two more goals before Jeif Thompson scored his second unassisled goal of the night midway lhrough the third period. Oshawa beat Orono goaltender Lee Allun once more before the game ended to skate awav with a 5 t0 3 victory. Friday night Orono hosted league rival Miflbrook in the fmnal home game of the season. Once again Jeif Thompson scorcd on the first shift of the gaine when he was set up in front of the net by Jamie Rowe. They could have had several others except for some key saves by Glencoe Hogle in the Orono net. Orono lied the game in the middle of the third period on a good passing play by Scott Wood and Jeff Thompson who set up Jake Bonnetta in front of the net who in tum scorcd on a hard shot. This fine game cnded with the final score Millbrook 2, Orono 2. Sunday moming we concluded our season with a game in Newcastle against the select teain. Orono came out skating hard and look the early lead with a goal by Jcff Thompson who was set up in front of the net on a super pass from Jamie Rowe and Chris Bouley. Newcastle lied the game but with twelve seconds ieft init.he first perîod, Jeff Thompson gave Orono the lead assisted by Kyle Moore. Dufferin notches first playoff win Dufferin Aggregates met Durham T.V. on the morning of Sunday, March 2lst and gained their first win of the post season. Dufferin started at a slow pace but had a clear territorial advantage during the firsî period. they were unable 10 beat the opposition goalie on their many clear shots but for Bryan Bickells breakaway goal that saw assiste from Jeff Mercier, who put Bickell in the clear, and Andy Bangay. The second period saw the Durham tcam give up five goals to Dufferin. Dufferin overpowered Durham and netted a further six goals whîle only giving away onte. Matt Caruana picked another four, to make it seven for the day and Bryan Bickell a pair, to total four. Mercier assisted on both Bickell goals with Dustin Weagant in on one. Kevin Martin also collected two assiste ini the period as did Doug Garlick. Moore added 10 his previous point by also assisting on a goal. The game ended 12-2 before most of the parents were awake.
