With good hustling and strong defence, (plus two bat around innings) this game was over in five innings when the mercy rule kickedin When -the dust settled, Orono won 21-7 to up their record to,.4-2. The outstanding play of the game came withShoppers Drug Mart batting in the fourth with the bases loaded and 2-2 counit on the batter. The next pitch was sent screaming into center field but our fielder, Dan Pereira, made an expert catch over his head. Orono PeeWee- Girls rebound from loss The General Purpose commiittee recommnends te couIncil approlval of a rezening application soughit by Peter, Matina & Anastasios Sotiriadis (Ace Submnarine) te allew fthe construction of a convenience store extension te thecir restaurant on Highway 115/35 just north of the Third Concession of Clarke. Such an application was first submitted te the Town in July of 1991 and since has changed until recently when the intent is to build a convenience store. Staff has suggested that a convenience store is compatible for the location. Pocket Star Books - Recycled - Orono PeeWee girls were defeated by Hampton 28 te 4 on June l5th. Tbey showed littie basebail skill and no hustle, and Hampton capitalized on every mistake and deserved the win. On June 23rd our girls came te the park te play bail. Tbey outscored Courtice 17 te 13 in a clo'se bard fought gaine. Christina Bester pitched 7 geod innings, with outstanding fielding by Leslie West and hatting from Carol Baxter, Diane Jenkins and Shelda Woods. Paula Partner crossed the plate twice and other players who got some key hits to put this gaine in thé win column were Melanie- Aluin, Jackie Bull, and Dana Drury. PeeWee girls first road garne of the year was a coaches dreain. The girls made few errors and hit everything defeating Tyrone 47 te 9. The pitching was shared between Asbley West, Melanie Allin and Chrissy Bester. The catching duties were donc by Diane Jenkins and Leslie West. Paula Pastner and Sheida Woods played good defensive basebali. And Erica Hawkshaw had a 10 RBI night. Ashiey Dwyer was the starting pitcher for Orono # i allowing 2 runs to be scored in the first inning after three walks aiid two strikeouts. Our girls not having a great up te bat first timie scored none letting Orono # 2 tearn be ahead 2-0. The second inning the girls went out with a differenit attitude like "Iets get tbemi," four up thrce out, much better on the delense this timne and when it came bo offense they went wild. Tina Taîsma started the inning off witb a nice lîttle single, whicb she was then moved arouInd the bases by Crystai Halik who aiso hiad a nice hit-.Sarah Alex ilien walkcd te mnove die girls around and \,ilcey Bickell hit asingle te score olir first two runs. Weil ou., girls weren't going to let up yet because Tina, Crystal, and Amy W alton ail got singles in the bottom ef the third. Sarah and Ashley Dwyer both got waiiks and then Ashley Bickell hit a grandslam te give (Mono # 1 a 12- 5 lead.
