Another hornet's nest on Pickering fed lands A Pickering area group representing over 200 people living on lands proposed for a Pickering International airport trekked off to Queen's Park recently seek ing assistance in opposing sale of the lands as îiow proposed by the federal goverument. The lanids involve 5100 acres of thousands of acres of land that was purchased by the federal government in the 1970s for a proposed second International airport. No action been taken as to the need of a second airport and with modifications to the Pearson International Airport there is littie likelihood that any move will be made as to an airport on the Pickering lands in the near future. Those living on the lands now involved in sale do so as renters and object to having the land sold out fromn under them. The group representing the 200 residents of the area meet with three Ministries while at Positive Communication- - A Two-way Street When people hear the word communication, they think of talking. But talking is actually Queen's Park. The Ministries would like to have the sale suspended until a comprehenisive plan for the lands involved is in place. Eti. Philip, Minister of' Municipal Affairs has threatened to zone the lands for agriculture and open space only. only part of communication. In fact, lîstening is also a very important factor.
