The province bas announced new courtbouses in Harnilton, Windsor and Cornwall. Mayor Nancy Diarnond bas- hope that a $100 million court bouse will be built on former GM lands in downtown Osbawa. Explosion levels, Port Hope bouse An explosion completely levelled a Port Hope bouse last Wednesday moming and damaged a number of neigbouring bornes. atFortunately no one was at borne athe bouse nor was anyone burt in neigbbouring homes. SIt is tbougbt ibat the explosion was caused by gas. The levelled bouse and neigbbouring bomes bad just cornpleted conversion to gas heating from electricity. Ambulance service reduced in Twin.-towns Due to cost saving measures an ambulance service in Port Hope and Cobourg has been reduced. Province cuts heritage grants Owners of istorical buildings will bave to pay a greater share of improvements to their buildings due to a eut in beritage grants. In the past the province paid up to $3,000 in a matching grant for beritage improvements. Tbis grant bas been cut almost in haîf. One stop business shopping In Janiuary Cobourg will, be one of a few locations outside Toronto wbere one-stop business shopping can be undertaken.
