Their opponents were Langc's Photo. As with tbeir previous victories, streng goaltending and bard skating were tbe keys to tbeir success. Donning the pads for this outing was Bradley Griffin. On numerous occasions, tbe Orono team turned the puck over while pressing offensively. Tbe ensuing breakaway chances for Lange were continually tbwarted by Griffin wbo made flot only tbe initial stop but the second and tbird shots as well. Orono's bard skating and forechecklng kept the play ln the Lange zone for the majority of the match. 0f note, during this gaine, was the imprevement in tbe passing and Rxoughley's Novice. with 3-1-O standing positional play tbe team bhas acbieved. Liberty took a tripping penalty at 7:48 and li 5 Aaron Robinson netted bis first goal of the season on an end to end rusb, putting Orono abead 2-1. Before the end of tbe first period Liberty put 2 past Oronos Jeff Slemon to go abead 3-2. At 9:20 of the second'Liberty scored what looked to be a winncr putting tbemn at 4-2. Orono neyer let up starting with J.P. Pisanis goal at 6:49, assisted by #* 4 Jesse Price and # 7 Brian Cbartrand. The third period was ail Orono Roughley Insurance. This was an entertaining matcbup as both teams playcd an aggressive fast- paced style of hockey. A total of 22 minors wcre assessed resultlng in lots-of ice maneuver-abity and scoring -opportunities. However a fine display of goaltending heroics was exbibited by Monarchs' Mitcb Johnson and tbe Family Auto tandem of Ryan Leddy and Scott Poole. Minden led 1-0 after tbe first peniod. But it was deadlocked 1-1 after the middle frame on an unassisted goal by Family Auto's captain, Bob Withcnidge. Minden grabbed a 2-1 lead midway througb the th 'ird period. But Orono's Greg Shetler stuffed one in on the wrap around unassisted late in tbe game to gain a 2-2 tie and extend Family Auto's unbeaten streak in league play te 8 games! Final score Family Auto 2, Minden Monarchs 2. Goal scorers were Greg Shelter and Bob Witheridge. Assist went te Tyler Robinson. Shots on goal: Farnily Auto 28, Minden Monarcbs 21. Four minutes ino the 2nd period, the whole complexion of the gaine changed wben a long shoot- in from centre ice by the Barrie forwards, bounced off the end boards and went in off Parry's skate. The team could flot get it together after this and 2 more goals by Barrie made it 3-1 at the end of 2 pcriods. Playing with a 2 man advantage to start the 3rd, it only _ took 15 seconds for the Toros to score when Tony Butzer moved in from the blucline to rip one pas t the Barrie 'keeper. The teams exchanged goals again and so, with a minute remaining in the game, coach Darryl Staley pulled his goalkeeper in favour of the extra attacker, in an effort to get the tying goal. His strategy almost paid off when a shot rang off the post, but in the scramble for the puck, it was cleared by Barrie right ino the open net for a final score of 5-3.
