The first and second entry, one week apart, resulted only in the alarîn being set off., Last Friday about 9:45 p.m. entry was again made through a bole that was cut in the side of the greenhouse. The thief bad taken out one of the growing lights and had disconnected another couple in the greenhouse wben police arrived te scare the intruder off. The light taken out of the green bouse was found and returned. In late August the greenbouse was also entereti with eight ligbts being removed and taken out of the building. The flats of trees were trampled in the removal of the lights. These lights were latter found on the tree nursery property. Police bave said the lights could be used to grow plants in a hydroponic lab. There was a lot of interest shown Saturday afternoon wben the Municipality of Clarington presented the Newcastle Commnunity Hall Board with their Heritage Designation Plaque and also with the opening of the display ini the Memorial Library Room. The newcastle and District Histroical Society bas leased the Library Room and bas completed refurbishing of the room ini wbich to exhibit items if interest following -the hsitory cf the community over the past decades. .Above Carolyn and John Sproatt, Bowmanville along with Jack and Gloria Gordon view a di splay of faim equipment. Mr John Sproatt is the grandson of the architect who was employed for the construction of the building. Group continues plans witlv, leaders'for Orono Youth Centre A Support Group interested, in assisting witb a Youth Centre in Orono met last Tbursday evening with Rosalyn Allen and Cathy Coatham. The meeting was chaired by Rev. Mervin Russell. The Support Group would act as a resource group s well as securing funds and give general support te the operation cf thle youth programn. Both Rosalyn Allen and Cathy Coathaîn outlined plans for the Yeuth Centre and wbat it was intended te, accomplish. Tbey said they hoped to open a com- munication with those youtb that would be involved in the Centre and te establish a friendly relationship. It was stated that youth in the community are interested in the establishment cf a centre and that persons interested in volunteering leadership bave been calling. Rosalyn Allen said facilities are available for renting at the former Sears Outlet and J'Me Fashion shop in, the old mill on Main Street. She said it would be an ideal location and provide a facility that is usable as an activity centre. Rev. Russell informed the meeting that the Kirby United Churcb congregation has set side $2,000 froîn its Outreacb Fund for use te belp the centre get started. Those in attendance at the meeting tborougbly discussed tbe issues' involved and a further meeting is te bc held. Rev. Russell is te seek a meeting with Regional Councillor Ann, Dreslinski as te w hat assistance the municiliality may be in the establishmnent cf the Youtb Centre. The Clarington Social Services department bas been involved in the establishment of 'an umbrella committee as to, Youth Centres that coulId be setup in varieus sectors cf the municipality.
