This game illustrated how the Select game moves at a faster pace than what the players are used to, forcing them to think and react more quickly. Although many of our guys had played earlier in the day and the night before and were perhaps a bit leg- weary, this means that the guys should try to find time to rest between- games and remember the Coach's ýemphasis on passing and positional hockey. The makings of a solid team are all there guys! Goo<i effort! Spea kimg of solid, we are proud to note that the B.R.H.L. Selects are being sponsored by the Bowmanville Optimists Club, who are generously providing us with a second set of team sweaters. We very much appreciate the support of the Optimists and thank them for their commitment to minor hockey in our area., Finally, the, Tyke Selects teamed up with the Novice Selects in Grafton on Sunday, December 5th for a Skate-a-thon to raise funds for the Select programmes. Tyke Sclccts travellcd to Sunderland Uis past Saturday for a date with the Uxbridge Bruins. The Bruins, living up to Uic old reputation of their-N.H.L. namesakes, werc a tough, sometimes physical opponent with a solid little, goaltender. Uxbridgc coninued to press, however, and managed to notch the equalizer before Uic period ended. The third period saw good action at both ends of the rink. Once again, the Bachard line provided the scoring punch for the B.R.H.L. Sclects, with Bryan tallying bis second of the night, assîsted by Mike Richardison, and' later Mike scoring on a pretty set- up from'Bryan and Stephen. Each goal, however, was answered in turn by the Bruins, who refused to go into hibernation and took advantage, of some loose-play by the B.RHL.ers in their own zone. The result was a bard- fougbt 4-4 tic, in spite of a 20- 11 edge in shots-on-goal for our boys. Honourable mention should go to Corcy Oliver and Rene Cartier, who wcrc particularly effective on defense.
