Orono battled back taking some great shots on net but it was not until 10:39 of mhe thr on a breakaway Considering Hydro Utility mergers Come mhis April mhe Cobourg Hydro utility and the Coîborne Utility are expected to have completed a merger in which the 6600 Cobourg hydro customers will be served by the same utility as that of Coîbome. Port Hope is now expecting te carry on discussion that could have the Port Hope utility making it a three-way merger. Lower costs to the customers is the main objective of the merger., Work moving to the US. A sister plant to Cobourgs Columbus McKinnon company 15 to take over some of the Cobourg 's plant production, hoist chain, affecting a possible 20 employee of mhe 77 in Cobourg. Workers at the Cobourg plant had been on strike since November 5. The union refused to put an offer of two percent each of two years to a vote of its members. The province called for the vote to be held and 44 of the 77 voted, in favour of the two percent for each of mhe next two years. A final decision is expected sometime in January as to the transfer of work to the U.S. Establish committee for hospital studies 1A committee te oversee a study into the future. of the Port Hope and Cobourg hospitals bas been announced. The committee includes management of both hospitals, and people representing, the community health, consumer and agricultural sector. Auditions 'have already been held for the 15 solo roles. Libraries will share services, The Cobourg and Port Hope libraries have starting sharing services with the residents in the two towns and those in Hamilton Township. The two.library cards are useable in eiher library to withdraw books, tapes, records and videos. Through the program it is intended to enhance library service in the three municipalities. Unemploymlent rate jumps The unemployment rate in Oshawa and whitby area has taken a jump forward during the month of December, 1993. The rate went up to 13.9 percetn up from 12.7 percent in November and up from 9.5 percent in December of 1992. The national average was set at 11.2 percent for the month of December 1993. Donations to the fund may be dropped off at any branch of the Bank of Nova Scoia., Air service out of Oshawa expands---- Oshawa is to get an expanded air service this month by Air One which recently purchased the financially troubled Skycraft Air Transport of Oshawa., Air One which has been operating out of Pearson Airport is moving mosi of its operation to Oshawa. Air One wil sehedule two trips a day to Ottawa and Montreal as well as three flights a day to the Detroit/ Windsor area. The company also hopes to rejuvenate the air transport business. Peterborough wants family doctors Council for the City of Peterborough has passed a resolution asking mhat the province designate Peterborough County as an area that doesn't have enough doctors.
