SJ&M started off Uic game pressuring A&R in their own zone and reaped quick benefits wlien Ian Knox (#14) scored fromt Michael Simiana,(#15) and Carl Tordiff (#10) on tic first shift. Despite a territorial advantage tliroughout the period, J&M didn't score agam until just before the period ended when Doug Garlick (#5) scored on a break-away from Derek Scîlars (#3) and Justin Caruana (#4). J&M - 2; A&R - A& R scorcd early in the second period on a break-away, but J&M restored Uic two-goal edge at 6:49 on a goal by Garett, Wood (#12) froin Carl Tordiff (#10) and Joey Konopka (#35) on a thrce-on-none, break. J&M - 3; A&R,- 1. Earlyin the third period Doug Gariick (#5) scored on a feed from Derek Sellars (#3) and Garett Wood (#12) to round out the scorîng and give J&M' a 4-1 victory. Ini Game # 2 of thc play-off round-robin, J&M Custom hosted Skylight Donuts at Orono last Wednesday, Mardli 23rd. Early in the first peniod, Doug Garlick and Jason Geraldi were both foiled by Skyligit's netminder who was playing bis usual stellar gaine. J&M had spent most of Uic period in Uic Skyliglitzone and at 4:50 Doug Garlick (#5) from Garett Wood (#1 2) and Michael Fuller (#6) finally cashed one in to end. the period J&M leading Skylight 1-0.ý Late in the second, Evan Moore (#9) scored unassisted, followed sliortly after by a successfui shot on net by Doug Garlick (#5) from Garrett MacDonald (#Il1) to end the pcriod with J&M, leading Skyliglit, 3-0. Midway tirougli the 3rd period, Skylight mounted a concerted offensive and managed to'get one behind Brent Vanstone (#7) in net for J&M Skylight kept up the pressure and with tirec minutes left in the gamne, pulled their goalie for an extra skater. Wbile a dangerous move, it paid dividends as Skyliglit scored to pull within one. This was as close as Skylight got, as J&M managed to liold on for a 3-2 wmn. Major Plumbing Novice near season end Wednesday niglit became Hockey Niglit in Orono as Uic OMHA Novice boys took on tie Bowmanville Toros in exhibition play. This was not one of Orono's better efforts as they put in a lack lustre performance on their way to a 5 to 2 loss. Both tearus started slowly and it was not until Uic second period that Bowmanville notdhed their first goal. Orono equalled that later in thc period on an excellent thrce way passing play from' Jamie Rowe and D.J. Boardman to Jesse Gimblett who finished the play. The Toros juniped ahead again but once more Jesse Gimblett tied thc gaine for Orono with an unassisted goal. Orono seemed content to let Bowmanville have the puck when they wanted it frora that point on as the Toros scored three unanswered goals late in the third period for Uic win. Friday evening was a different story as a short handed Orono squad came to, play as tliey hosted the Bownianville Selects. Backed by shut out goaltending by Glencoe Hogle, Orono played strong two way hockey skating to a 4 to 0 win. Orono jumped into an early lead with a tip in goal by D.J. Boardman on a good pass out from Uic corner by Colin Cureatz also assisted by Lee Allin. Ilirce quick passes in the second period resulted in the second Orono goal as Jesse Giniblett and J.P. Pisani calied up on short notice set up Nathan Adegeest in Uic slot who made no mnistake. Another good passing play froin Jamie Rowe and Jesse Gimblett found D.J. Boardinan in Uic iglit spot for his second goal of Uic gane'. The final goal was scored by Nathan Adegeest as lie slapped in a rebound of a shot by Chris Kirkbride from Uic point. This was an excellent effort by everyone as they played mudli nearer to their potential than in the carlier game. Sunday aftemnoon Millbrook was Uic opposition in a return game in Peterboroughi. Battling back froin two goal déficits on two occasions, Orono played a good game ending in a 5 to 5 tic. Curt Robinson opened Uic scoring for Orono on a good rush and a liard shot after taking passes from Lee Allun and Chris Kirkbride. The second goal came from the stick of Collin Cureatz as lie tippcd in an excellent passout from Jarrie Rowe after lic iad been fed tic lcad pass froin Jesse Gimblett. Orono lias advanced to the Ontario Finals by virtue of a 9-1 shellacking of the MacLier Kings Friday, Mardi 25. Family Auto eliminated the Kings in three straiglit of the best-of-five semi final round. In Friday's gaine the Kings pressed liard early in the contest and hield a 1-0 lead into the second period. Witli Farnily Auto's deeper bencli lowcvcr it was just a matter of turne for the visiting Orono club to pick up the scoring tempo! Orono led 3-1 aftcr two periods and put the gaine completcly out of reach in the final framne as tlicy cashed in seven goals on seven shots! Highlighting the win was a natural hat trick for winger Ryan Tresise as lie tallied three straiglit markers in Orono's seven goals third period outburst. Orono now await a final round playoff opponent for thc Provincial Charnpionsbip. Upon serving his game suspension, a rather perplexed Mike Knox made thc trip to Mactier to support lis teain froin Uic stands and led thc Orono booster club section in thc proverbial crowd wave and a couple of rousing chorus' then made no mistake as lie took the pass out fromn the corner fromn D.J. Boardman. Two unassisted goals by Matt Caruana and Jesse Gimblett brouglit Orono back froin a 5 to 3 deficit late in the second period to dtiUi game. There were good scoring chances for ecditeain in the third period but neither' could take' advantage of thern to take Uic iead.
