Th-ccommi&jinreqJested council to increase the annual honorarium to $4020 for the chairperson and to $3252 for commissioners. The rates, have been $2640 for the chairperson and $1872 for commissioners. The new rates were wo come into effect as of June lst, 1994. In receiving the new proposed honorarium commiss- ioners would not be paid, as they have in the past, $100 for meetings of the committee held other than the regular monthly meetings. Mayor Hamre said that the chair of the Hydro Electric Commission, Pauie Storks, had informed her that last year the commission held twenty special meetings other than the regular meetings and were paid $100 for each of the twenty meetings., Mayor Hamre said she qutestîoned the holding of a number-of the special meetings. Councilor John OToole said he had some difficulty with the request and said he was surprised they were also paid for attendance at conventions. Councillor David Scott pointed out that in effect there was no increase in remuneration taking into consideration the honorarium for the past year plus the $100 for special meeting compared te the new schedule of honorariums without payment of $100 for special meetings. With littie further debate the request for the change in honorarium was defeated. The sneaker contest An odd photo indeed. But it seems normal when you consider that it is Sneaker Day at the Community Services Departmnent, and is all part of the fun involved with kicking off Fitness Week.
