The sport has been growing by considerable numbers over the past few years.' Orono has two full soccer pitches available for local teams with one pitch forming two mini pitches if the case for such a need arises. In Girl's Softball there are a total of 60 girls registered in two Novice teains, one PeeWee teamn and one Bantaîn team. This group is aise sponsored by the Orono Athleic Association. Ray Bester states that the municipality has made considerable improvement te the Orono fairgreund diamond by fixing the backstop and making improvements te the field. The Rotary club with assis- tance from the town and others could spend up to $100.000 to resurface four tennis courts, one of which would be an ail-purpose courts for tennis, basketball and one that could be flooded for use as an outdoors skating rink. At the present time there are no public courts in Port Hope. Both the town courts and the schools courts were closed a few years ago. that perhaps they could fit into one the Jay uniforms in the distant future. The total enrolment in bail in Orono bas reached a total of 160 for the current season. The Athletic has registered a PeeWee team with the Ontario Eastern Basebali Association. The Orono team along with an entry from Kendal are in some heavy competition with such centres as Kingstone, Belleville, Peterborough, Pickering and Lindsay. The Orono group are being coached by Pete Landers, David McGlynn and managed by Tim Tuff. For the five and six year olds there are two teams of T-Bail and then for the seven and eîght year olds its two teams of 4-Pitch bail. The Orono Athletic bas registered -six teams in the Municipality of Clarington Basebail league where they will play with teams from Courtice, Bowmanville, Tyrone and Newcastle. The Orono contingent is made up of two Tyke teamisand single teares in Mosquito, PeeWee, Bantam and a MidgetjJuvenile team.
