The Orono Horticultural Show o n Thursday, May 26 at Orono United Church told us so. There was a fine showing of tulips, daffodils, lily of. the valley, and flowering shrubs. Our President Shelley called the meeting ta order with O'Canada, and we were accompanied by Shirley Moffat at the piano. Shelley read a lovely Spring Poem, and welcomed cveryone. The secretary's report was read by Flo Sharpe and Adele gave the lreasurer's report. Shelley expressed our Get Weil wishes to Donna Sutherland, who is a patient -in Oshawa General Hospital, and we ail wish her weli. There will be three attending the O.H.A. convention being held at Brock University in St. Cathaines in June, they include Lomna Atkins, Inez Harris, and June Heard. The guest speaker Mrs. Sharon McGee of Bramble Bush Flower Shop, ,Bowmanville, -was introduced by Inez Harris, her topic was on "Flower Design'.. How you can take flowers right out of your garden and dry them. When preparing gardens for a project like this you should have différent types of flowers planted in masses, grape vines, dried roses, baby's breath, straw flowers, eucalyptus, June static and odd flowers. Everyone enjoyed the demonstration. Fred Lesage thanked the guest speaker. Sharon gave away beautiful basket of dried flowers in the draw, the lucky lady being our eldest member Mrs. Edith Taylor. There were many other draws, and a good attendance at the show. Shelley called on Doreen to give the show report and present the Special Awards. We are trying something different this year and will be presenting the money for prizes at the end of the year. Doreen also thanked our Judge Vicki Lesnick for the fine judging. We are also looking.for a new treasurer as our faithful good treasurer Adele McGill is retiring due to health problems. There will be an open house Orono Garden Tour for Orono members, on July 16th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No charge to enter. June flower basket sale for Decoration Sunday is Saturday, June 25th at Adele McGill's.
