0- rono WeýeklyTies7Wdosayimptm 7-, 19 Orono Mosquito bail club-successful sea son The Orono Armstrong IGA Mosquito basebali team concluded a most successful season on September 10 at Soper Creek park as they competed in the MCBA mosquito championship game. The team finished in sixth place in the league throughout the regular season and were decided underdogs when they entered the double knock out round robin playoffs. Orono disposed of COAW and Homners Petro Can in their first two games and then camne up against Reedtronics who had finished second in the regular season. As neithier team had lost a game in ýthe preliminary round robin this tumned into a best two gaines out of three. series to determine who would advance to the championship game. With some key pitching pe-rformances and timely hittîng, Orono prevailed in the third game to advance to the final. These three gamnes were probably the best bal of the season as ail three were real nailbiters with the fans completely involved from start to finish. The championship game put Orono in against Bleacher Creatures who had finished the regular season in first place and had gone through their round robin play undefeated. This well coached team were definitely up' for the last gaine of, the year. 'Me pitching proved-to much for Orono to handie on this day and Bleacher Creatures prevailed to win a well deserved championship. The Orono ýboys must be congratulated for their neyer say die attitude throughout the playoffs as they performed admirably to reach the championship game. Thanks to coaches Kim and Pattie h-win and Ron Boardman for their efforts through the year as they faced the unenviable task of juggling a seventeen mani roster. The season concluded with a pizza party and fun game between the boys and their parents with the final outcome of thatý game stili in doubt.
