Cover Story The majority of students at Clarke are abjecting ta the way s.tudent caunicil is operating. While talking ta one student on this matter, he said teachers run the show more than the students. I disagreed and explained that student counicil is cantrolled by the students of Clarke Higb School.'Though teachers do monitor the council. Teachers only give their input and help the counicil with their activities. Most activities, fundraisers and assemblies are ail arranged by the counicil. Thaugh, I like the way the caunicil involves the teachers on accomplishing their work. The only rule I do not agree with is the way you are elected ta the council. The ele ctions has always been a good idea. Tbaugh' in order ta run in the elections, you must follow somne certain procedures as so stated in the school constitution. For example, about six montbs ago, I attempted ta run for Communications Officer, but because I failed math I was denied entry into the election. The good part about this, I was allowed ta bc a part of the council. I just couldn't run for the six available positions'. Student Council's prime minister, Trish Dubeau, and the rest of the council is out ta change the attitude that is expressed toward the council. Their plan of action is ta lead up a number of Spirit activities ta lift school spirit.
