Donut Gallery A toms open season play The Orono Atom Donut Gallery Leafs opened thir efrague play at the Orono arena Friday evening against the Newcastle atoms. Newcastle was too much for Orono to handie this time out as they, skated to a well deserved cight to one victory. Orono started the gamne with good inîensity but could not sustain it for enough of Uhc gamne to keep up with their opponents. Scoring for Orono was Matt Reid as he took a pass from thc corner from Matt Caruana who had been called up from Uic novices for thc night. The Orono team has a busy week coming up with thrcc gaines. If the boys 'can put together threc pcriods of solid two way hockey thcy should do well as their first two games have shown moments of good.play but not thc consistent effort that is ncedcd to win. Pîcase note that Uic winner of thc 50/50 draw for UieAMomns was ticket number 0660861. Novice OMHA with good teamn play to- start season Busy Uicy have been since thc last write-up, successful thcy haven't beený. There were more penalties m tLhis gamce than goals with Orono gctting îhree, onc 10 Matt Caniana two minutes for high-sticking, Matt Mitchell two minutes for roughing and Jeff Mercier two minutes for bodychecking. Ops took advantagc of these penalties and quickly poked two quick goals past Orono's goalie Ian Crashley at thc bcginning of thc third period. It wasn't for trying that Uic boys didn't win il was Uiey had no Iucky breaks. Final score of Uis gaine was 2-1 for Ops, not a bad loss. Anodier wcll played gaine was Friday, October Uic 7th against Newcastle at the Orono arena. Newcastle wcrc up two goals near ic end of the first period but a great pass from Jeff Mercier, ta Bryan Bickell in front of Uic net to Matt Caruana put themn on thc board. Orono kccping up to the fast pace of Uic Newcastle îeamn kept themn under control only allowing another onc 10 sncak ini but Orono camde back to 'tic the gamne up for the first tic of thc might. Justin Szymczak scorcd the second goal of Uic gaine, assistcd by Kyle Allin andi Curtis Robinson. The tying goal was scorcd with 2:12 lcft in the second by Matt Caruana, assisteti by Bryan Bickcll.
