The Leafs continued te be frustrated around the opponents net as they managed only one goal against- Millbrook despite several excellent scoring chances. Mark McAlister assisted by Jamie Rowe was the only Leaf to dent the twine as he scored his first goal of the season froin bis defense position. The six 10 one score in favour of Millbrook was flot indicative of tbe -play as Orono did play a sound gaine but have to develop the ability 10 finish their plays in order to improve ther offence.> Saturday inoring the Leafs bit the ice against Keswvick in the annual Woodville tournainent. These two teains were well matcbed as the play moved from end to end throughout the gaine with both teains scoring twice in the first two periods te go ib te third tied. Jeff Thompson scored both Orono goals witb Mark McAlister assisting on the first and Mark Brennan on the second. Unfortunately Keswick notched one goal in the third to take the 3 te 2 victory and send Orono mbto the "side of the tourney. The home teain of Woodville wasnext up for Orono and after being defeated twice by this teain in earlier tournents, the Leafs were out to prove something to both theinselves and to Woodville. Orono took the play to Woodville in the first period with lots of bustie and determination but were unable to score. The scoring machine came alive on the first sbift of the second period-as Mark Brennan slapped in a Jeff Thompson rebound after Lee Allin bad sent hum in on the net. Twenty-four seconds later the same lime scored again wîtb Jamie Rowe getting the rebound from Mark Brennan and Brandon Hilîs. The all out effort by the Leafs took its tol however as they ran out of gas late in the gaine allowing Woodville five unanswered goals in the last twelve minutes of the gaine to give the win and send Orono home. The Leafs cari be proud of the effort that they put forth in this tournament and hopefUlly Ihis will mark a turnaround in tbeir season as with ibis style of play and'a couple of good bounces, Orono could have won boi gaines. Geraldi Financial sweep up A & R Flooring Geraldi Financial Leafs secured their eighth win in a row this season, when they defeated A & R Flooring 10-2, Saturday. This was the second meeting of the year between the teains, and Geraldi Financial proved themselves once more, as they captured a solid win. Soon afterwards Jason Geraldi took the score upwards when hie give Dufferin a 2-1 lead. In the closing minutes of the period, Dufferin had a flurry as Chris Boyce (#4) rang the puck off the goalie's mask. Evan Moore (#9) claimed the rebound, his shot stopped by a pad. Again, on the rebound, Garret Wood (#12) shot, just missing the corner, the sound of the puck hitting the post, echoing the teains' frustration tbroughout the arena. Early in the second, Rotary managed to get one past rookie netininder Kyle Johnston (#14) on a screened shot to tie the game up once more. At the 9:50 mark, Doug Garlick (#11) put one between the Rotary goalie's legs. Assist to: Mark Kelly (#8) and Justin Caruana (#15). Garlick's goal posted Dufferin to a 3-2 lead,,and surfaced as the turming point in the gaine. Dufferin kept up the offensive pressure for the remainder of the second, and on into the third. This pressure paid dividends. as Joseph Staples (#19) scored bis first goal of the season off Chris Boyce (#4) and David Landinan (#17). Staples' goal was the result of a night's effort in excellent hustie and drive. At the 4:00 mark, Ryan Campney (#5) scored his second of the night froin Evan Moore (#9). In an amazing show of offensive drive, Dufferin closed the game with a goal scored at the 10 second mark by Doug Garlick (#1 1) with assist to Joseph Staples (#19). Final score: Dufferin 6; Rotary 2. Slow at the post, Dufferin storms Rotary 6-2 On Saturday, Decesuber 10, Dufferin Aggregate Sr. Tyke played against Rotary in a 6-2 victory. 1I a gane that started slowly, Rotary notcbed the first goal of the gaine at 10:16 before Ryan Cainpney (#5) replied less than 30 seconds lter on passes froin Chris Boyce (#4) and Garrett MacDonald (#10).
