Mariposa is one of the lbagues leading teams, but the Leafs wbo bave been playing well of late, came out working bard and played Mariposa even for the first two periods. Orono jumped into an early lead when Dan Tresise pounced on the rebound of a shot by -Matt Reid who had received the pass in the slot frm Lee Alibi on the point. The Leafs lost a ittle of their momentum in the third however and Mariposa took advantage of the situation to build on their score to go on to a six to one Win. Sunday evening in Manvers the Leafs sported a new look as they were forced to play with a nine man squad due to family commitmentsduring the festive season. The team was told to be prepared for lineup changes if they did flot perform well. Altbough they bad several good chances there wasstill no score at the end of the first period s0 regular defensemen Brandon Hilîs and Lee Allin were moved Up to the forward line to provide a littie more size and muscle ini the corners. It proved to be the right move at the right tdîne as the pair went on to collect five points apiece to lead tbe Leafs to an impressive 8 to 1 victory. Justin Standeven and Jamie Rowe each scored twice toaid the strong team effort. It was an experience that all of the boys enjoyed and was a great opportunity to develop team spirit without the pressures of the rink. A big thank you to coach Jim McAlister who provided the tickets to the Hall of Fame and to Hourglass Limousine for the use of their cars to let the boys travel in style. James Insurance Ruffies ride rough road December 10, 1994 the Ruffies played Union Qil in Bowmanville. Paul "Spotty' Richter was back on -the. ice after cbicken-pox. Greg Dunhain got. the first shot on net to start the gaine. Union 011 pressed bard and at 9:27 scored their first goal. They madle it 2-0 at1:9 Orono put good p ressure on Union Oil early in the second and Kevin martin macle some good stops as Union Qil returned the action. It was up and clown the ice and Kyle MacDonald had 2 good chances on bis sbift. Steve Gregg made a nice pass to Mike Teixeira in front of the net and be just fanned on the shot. Matt Barnes played a tough game on the blue lino saving several broakaways wîth bis good checking. Unfortunately Orono went clown 4-0. December 14, 1994 Orono playecl James Insurance at home. Freeman, Hutching, saved a goal as he turned on the jets and checked a J.L. guy on a breakaway. Orono players worked bard and the defense of Andy Bangay, Steve Webb, Colin Maitland and Matt Bamnes skatecl bard. Kevin martin in net faced a lot of rubber this game and witb Orono unable to get a good offence going lost 5-1. Their 3rd game in 2 weeks pitted Orono against Liberty Mutual in Bowmanville on Saturday, December 17, 1994. The final score of 6-0 Liberty Mutual does not reflect the bard work the boys put into this game. Steve and Tyler Gregg and Paul Richter had somoe good shifts putting pressure on Liberty Mutual.
