SALLYr associate broker DulTerin thrashes'Deighton in one-sided affair On Friday, February 24, Dufferin Aggregates hosted Deighton Associates, capturing a 6-1 win. Ryan Campney (#5) opened the scoring on a pass from Garrett MacDonald (#10) early in the first. At the midpoint of the period, Evan Moore (#9) scored with an assist ftom Joseph Staples (#19) to give Dufferin a two-goal lead. Josh Moffat (#7) turned in an excellent period with plenty of digging and a couple of good scoring opportunities to show for is effort. Just before the period closed, David Landinan (#17) was thwarted on a fortuitous scoring chance and couldn't get the handie on the rebound. Early in the second, Kyle Johnston (#14) stole into Deightons zone alone, but was haited by a good defensive play. Deighton started to produce some offensive pressure as the period wore on, finally managîng to connect at the 9:41 mark, to halve Dufferins lead. At the 6:10 mark, Chris Boyce (#4) restored the two-goal lead when he pounced on a rebound. Assists going to Doug Garlick (# 11) and Garrett MacDonald (#10). Josh Moffat (#7) and Kyle Johnston (#14) worked tenaciously to keep the play in Deighton's end, with dividends paying as they each earned assists on Justin Caruana's (#15) goal scored at 4:19. The team travelled to Pickering on Saturday for an exhibition match against LNHL Biaekhawks. 'Me game was close for 2 peiods with Captain Aaron Robinson showing bis rushing style once again. Defenseman John Halik had a better game than Thursday staying up on bis skates. Orono lost the game 8-3 with the Blackhawks seoring 5 goals in the third. Oronos scoringr: Rick Howe, assists Shawn Dejohn and Mike Orono's Geraldi Financial Leafs 'A' Champions It was a tremendous victory for Orono's Geraldi Financiai Leafs as they captured the "A" Division Championship in Hastings this past weekend. Orono played the fmrt gaine of the tournament early against the home teamn of Hastings. Despite Hastings size Orono proved to be too mach for them. Geraldi Financial steam rolled them 8-1. Jason Geraldi scored an outstanding 5 goals, with two of them being scored in the first minute. Taylor Doyle submitted 2 goals and Matt Bester with 1. The4second gaine was against Ennismore and was the ciosest of the day. Jason Geraldi picked up 2 goals and Shane Winters also scored 1. The final was 3-1 Orono. Zak Snowden was solid in net. Taylor Doyle scored first to take the wind out of their salis when he scored 3 quick goals making it 3-0 Orono. Shane Winters adds another goal to sink the ship 4-0 and Newcastle raises the white flag when Jason Geraldi scores 4 in a row to capitalize on the win. 8-3 Final. Congratulations to the team and coach Gary Geraldi, tramner Dan Doyle, manager Bruce Snowden and thanks to the parents and familles for thecir support. Noteworthy: It was a complete team effort with everyone contributing. Matt Bester accumulated 9 points for the day, Taylor Doyle racked up 7 points, as well as Riki Palmateer getting 6 points in the tournament. Ryan Knox and Shane Winters each got 2 p oints, and Jonathon Koerssen and MatBaxter got a point each. Jason Geraidi accumulated a momentous 12 points over the day. Joshua Flynn and Doug DeBoo were pillars of strength defensively. Zak Snowden was outstanding in net, in ail 3 games. Zak Snowden got the next goal, the assist from Jason Geraldi, 2-0. Then Taylor Doyle quiciy makes it 3-0, with a goal. Stili in the first when Jason Gieraldi takes a shot and scores, the assist was delivered by Jonathon Koerssen. Late in the first Taylor Doyle accepts the pass from Rikki Paimateer to score, 5-0 Orono after the first. We head into the second period with Jason Geraldi scoring 3 unassisted goals in. a row. 8-0 Orono. 'Me only goal of the 3rd was scored by Doug DeBoo, assisted fromn Jonathon Koerssen. -Maut Bester acquired the shut-out. Oronio's Geraldi Financial Tykes have now made it 18 wins in a row and stands firmly in lst place. They are now Iooking forward to their next toumnament which is March 14 & 15 in Lindsay.
