Still smarting froin a tough 2-1 defeat in Gps last Sunday the Leafs came out hitting against their larger ceunterparts. The Plames held a si -0 lead after one period of hockey however along with a 5-4 edge in shots, Gps went up 2-0 early in the middle frame before Oronodrew the score even with goals by Bob Witheridge and Tyler Robinson. Leaf defenceman Neil Borutskie picked up a helper on Orono's second goal. Six more goals were scored in the third period as the lead changed hands several turnes. Leafs' Greg Shetler scored the game's final tally on a power play at the 5:01 mark to tde it at 5-5. The shifty centre was set up micely in the slot by winger Mike Knox. Defenceman Jamie Parry was also credited witb an assist on the play. Scoring Orono's third and fourth goals on fine solo efforts were Bob Witheridge and Tyler Robinson. The team teck time 'eut froin their spring break to participate in an Atoin Houseleague toumnament in Uxbridge on March 17 and 19. Their first gaine was against the Uxbridge Lions. It was a pretty one sided gaine as Orono won 8- 0. Goalie Jeff Slemon was super in net using bis glove to save several shots. The defense of Mat Gregg, Aaron Robinson and Cbris Beulecy, Kevin Pritchard were great protection for Jeff and also contributed offensively. D.J. Board picked up a hattrick. Game 2 was another one sîded gamne as Grono played Uxbridge Video 99 and'camne out on te 14- 2. This gaine featured Chris Bouley's "Knuckle Puck" shot going in twice and a deflection gave Chris a bat trick. J.P. Pisani also picked up a bat trick this game. The boys felt quite confident going into the semi-finals but their opposition frein Grangeville was a much tougber teain than they bad played se far. Orangeville went up 2-0 quickiy in the first period before D.J. Boardnian from Rick Howe put Oronoon the board. The second pecriod was scoreless and the Orono-fans found it bard to watch. The Grono boys did flot give up and sent the gaine into overtime at 4:45 of the 3rd on a goal by Ricky Howe froin D.J. Beardinan. Grono had several chances te win hofore the end of the period but the Grangeville goalie bad a good eye for tbe puck. in overtime they played 5 on 5 for 5 minutes witb a skater comaing off each minute. Several penalties were called during the overtime an d Aaron Robinson was hauled dewn frein behind while in tbeecear and with ne gealie in the net. Roughley Novice have busy break The Roughley Insurance Novice teain participated in the annual Port Perry Novice houseleague tournament on march 16, 1995. Their flrst opponents were die Port Perry Van Canps. Port Perry scored first at 3:03 of the first. In the second period Grono came back at 6:16 to tic the score. Orono's shooter was Greg, Dunhain, assisted by Freenian Hutchings. Port Perry scorcd 2 unanswered goals in the 3rd te win the first gaine. The boys put forth a good effort but appeared a bit fiat. Game 2 for the Roughlies was against Port Perry Re/Max. This was a must win gaine for Orono as a loss would have sent then home. Grono was up tetbe challenge as tbey beat Re/Max 6- 2.
