A strong sbowing against arcb- rivais Re/Max Real Estate followed by a heartfclt loss to Newcastle is what we will look at in thc weck ireview. Orono dominated from the opening minutes against the always tough Re/Max thanks to some booming body checks by Josb Bonnetta who was back with the tearn because of a suspension to Devon Withcridge. Bonnettas' early physical play ignited the teamn and thcy rode to a 6-2 victory. The only score of the game came when Orono was up 4-0 in the third and Re/Max scored back to back markers 45 seconds apart to make it 4-2 witb, 4 minutes to go. ReMax had itfs hopes dashed by two quick goals from Scott Logan and Guy Tousignant. Other Orono goals were scored by Maartense on a nice single banded effort, Tousignant on a breakaway, Esler after receiving a nice pass from Tousignant and Brent Logan from the side of the net. Late morning on Saturday, March 25, Orono arrived at Darlington arena to play the boys from Newcastle. Hentig scored early on a nice sbot from just inside the left circle but that was all Orono could muster. If it wasn't for spectacular goaltending from Scott Sawyer the score would not have been just 2-1. A beautiful stackcd- pads breakaway save by Sawyer and a last minute barrage of shots given were some of the few tirnes Orono showed any life. Rink Ramblings - Many of the Orono fans in-attendance at Saturday's game remarked on the strong play of rookie Dan Frew. - The Saturday loss was Orono's first to Newcastle this year. - Quote from the dressing room Captain Hentig, 'mr getting kind of sick of hockey." - Beacock and Landers best efforts not enough Friday, Marcb 31 the Orono Famnily auto Pcc Wee Leafs went down to a 3-2 defeat in their exhibition finale in OMHA action. The Leafs played bost to a physically larger Bowmanville BRHL- Select club, as bas been Uic case with most of this season's opposition. Orono didn't easily succumb to a size differential bowever as they out-hit their opponents in thc first two periods. The Selects did manage to outshoot Orono'5-2 and outscore their hosts 2-0 afier one period of play bowever. The Selects were up 3-0 wben winger Brandon Caruana banged in is 33rd of the season for Orono with just over 4 minutes remaining. The Leafs actually won Uic third pcriod by virtue of a,1-0 score combined with excellent goaltcnding. Orono's. second goal and a club leading 45th markcr was scored by Bob -Witheridge. The big guy was setup by Tyler Robinson and Brandon Caruana. Lcaf s Ryan Leddy kicked out no lcss than 13, shots in Uic game's final period.
