In this communîty and right across Ontanio we are lucky to have an abundance of young people who' fit this description. We often only hear of the bad klds, but everyone readmng this knows at least one young person who fits the 'good' category.- It's these young people who deserve, but seldomn recelve, proper recognition. For that reason the Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Awards programn was found- ed in 1981. We, at this newspaper, are proud to play a part in recognlzing the youth of our community. The program, a projeet of the Ontario Community Newspapers Association (OCNA) with the assistance of Bell Canada, has over the past 1 3 years paid tribute to 180 exemplary individuals or groups between the ages of six to eighteen. Those- chose to receive, this prestigious award along wlth their families, are guests of honour at a lun- cheon tI Toronto durlng the annual OCNA convention. Award recipients are joined, by Ontarlo's Lieutenant Governor for a famlly por- trait at Queen's Park and are presented with $200 and'a Junior Citizen lapel pin. Marty young people i our community are worthy of the attention and encourage- ment provlded through the Juried Fine Arts Show at Visual Arts Margot Samuel's Point of View of the Fifteenth annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition at the Visual Arts Centre which opened September is "The Message of Introspection". Samuel, sole juror, is a free-lance art dealer based i Toronto. She has strong ties with this area having lived in Orono for ten years and Bowmanville for twen- ty. In 1975 she served on the first Advlsory Cornmittee for the establishment of the visual arts centre.
