G.A. manager Tenzen Gyaltsan, along -wlth one of bis store's employees, Ray, presented a cheque for $1,285 ta the vice-principal of the Newcastle Public School, Denise Prentice, and Beverly Palmer, one of the members of the school's fundraising The grand opening of the new store in, Newcastle called Country Creations was held on Saturday, September 30. The store manager Sylvia Carriere stated that she chose ta open her shop in aur fair village due ta the fact of the The official opening of the Clarlngton East F'ood Bank, located- at 131 King Street East in Newcastle, was held on Saturday-, September 20. Members of the Ist Newcastle, Beavers and Cubs were among those present that day and after the speeches were over they presented the wagon load of non-- perishable food,- that they had collected, ta the food bank. Then the chairman, Reverend Don Stiles, alang with cauncillor Ann Dreslinski and co-ordnator commlittee. The money was raised by the I.G.A.- through the sale of spring plants and will be used for the school's playground fund. The I.G.A. also held a barbeque and collected grocery tapes. A big, thank you goes out ta Tenzen and ail of bis employees for friendliness of the other shop owners and aiso the warm welcome the residents of our fair village extended to, her., She started her business out of her home five years ago and would like ta take this time ta say thank you ta Beth Lamb shared the honour of the opening with the ribbon cutting ceremony. Reverend George Mahan of the Newcastle Pentecostal Church then said a short prayer after which he thanked everyone for attending and then invited them ta help themselves ta the refreshments that had been prepared. If yau would like ta make a donation il can be dropped off at the food bank or any of the local churches. Cash donations rnay be left their generous donation and ail of their hard work and dedication from ail the staff and students who attend the Newcastle Public- School.
