The Orono team looked very good this night as they took a win of 2-1. Orono had to take control of the game or the Newcastle team would dominate. The first period saw even play by both teams with Orono getting six shots on net, and Newcastle get- ting eight shots. The second saw Orono ail over their opponent and get- ting many shots on net, but the Newcastle goalie was not about to give them any. Orono centreman Matt Caruana finally put it past the goalie at 7:17 with assist to Nathan Adegeest and he put another-one past the goalie at 3:30 with assist to Lee Allin. Newcastle man- aged to put one past the Orono goalie late in the third period. Orono's defence played great all game keep- ing the shooters from Newcastle frustrated from not getting their chances at the Orono goalie. Keep the good work up Orono! Next game takes place Friday, November 17 in Orono. Good work Orono! Burger King's Armishaw has a three point night On Thursday, November 2, the Burger King Bantams took to the ice in Newcastle with a somewhat under staffed team. Missing that night was Jim Conboy (ill), vince Norton (injured), Neil Borutskie (academic com- mitment). Kyle Beacock, Steve Foster, Craig Harness, Chris McLean and Dusty Stapleton were just about running on empty as they had already played two high school hockey games earlier that day in Cobourg. (both wins) Jon Arrnishaw was first to find the mark, unassisted. Newcastle's lead held until late in the first when the Remax team was able to tie it. Second period saw good scoring chances at both ends but fine goaltending kept the score tied at one each. Just a minute into the third and JOn Armishaw notched his second of the game with assists going to Kyle Beacock and Chris McLean. Less than a minute later Randy Brennan Undefeated streak ends for Major Plumbing Novice It was a busy schedule for Orono's OMHA Novice's as they saw action twice this past weekend. Orono hosted an exhibi- tion game against Woodville on Friday, November 3, the travelled to Millbrook on Sunday, November 5 for a regular season game. Friday's game against Woodville proved to be chal- lenging, but Orono showed great tenacity. The first period opened with Woodville immediately pressing hard, and a lot of action in Orono's end. Goalie, Ian Crashley had several quick shots on net and came up solid as ever. Woodville secured the first two goals of the game and dominated the first period. We go into the second, with Orono rejuvenated and ready to be on the score- board. Woodville was up 3- 0 when Doug Garlick set up Jason Geraldi, who was in front of the net to deposit it in, 3-1. Also in on that play was Brian Pisani, assisting. Woodville then scores, making it 4-1. At the 6:44 mark,;Justin Caruana takes a shot from the point, deflecting off Doug Garlick's stick to Stevie Gregg who shot it in, 4-2. Still in the second and Justin Caruana repeats his performance, takinganother shot from the point, this time to Kyle Cox. From there Justin Hill relays it to Andy Bangay who puts a hard shot between the five hole, 4-32. At the end of the second Woodville adds another notch to the score- board, but the final period came and the line of Kyle Allin, Taylor Doyle and Paul Richter gained momentum, but came up short. Justin Hill scored midway through unassisted, to up the score to 5-4, but that was as close as Orono would get, for Woodville scored on an empty net late in the third. Defensively, Evan Moore pulled the trigger to put the Burger King squad up by two. Assists were earned by Steve Foster and Jon Armishaw. Strong two way play by Colin Bayda, Chris Davis and Jerry Guthrie held off the pressing Remax team to allow a tired, ten player team, preserve a well earned 3-1 win. Chris McLean assisted on the winning goal and played a strong defensive game. this came after he was car- ried from the ice on a stretcher and taken to hos- pital earlier in the day. The Newcastle Bantams would like to welcome Ron Smith, our newest player, to the team. and Chris Moffat showed solid form and Ian Crashley was stellar in net. Final 6-4 Woodville. On Sunday, Orono met up with Miillbrook for an exciting match-up. Orono did a great job clearing the puck until the 4:05 mark, when Millbrook got the first goal. Two minutes later, they got another quick goal and Orono found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first. Heading into the second and offensively Orono start- ed applying a lot of pressure, and the line of Kyle Allin, Taylor Doyle and Paul Richter exemplified this. The other line of Andy Bangay, Justin Hill and Kyle Cox were digging hard as well. Orono provided great end to end action. Paul Richter took an excellent wrist shot from a feed by Kyle Allin, to put Orono on the score- board. A goal by Jason Geraldi was disallowed due to a quick whistle, thwarting a chance to tie it up. In on that play were Stevie Gregg, and Doug Garlick working Authorized Sales & Service Centre for: hard. Midway through the third and Chris Moffat is tripped up, Millbrook gets the penal- ty but Orono is unable to capitalize on it. Defensively, Orono was a distinctive presence, with Evan Moore and Justin Caruana clearing the puck out of the zone. Showing great hustle to stop two breakaways was Brian Pisani. Chris Moffat dis- tributed strong defensive and offensive ability. Ian Crashley played a key role in keeping the game close, with an ample amount of great saves. Millbrook scored their last goal late in the third, on an empty net to finalize the game 3-1. This was Orono's first official loss. Their record is now 4- 1 - 1. They look forward to a tournament in Manvers next weekend. Noteworthy: Not men- tioned last week was Chris Moffat who is one of Orono's assistants along with Kyle Cox and Brian Pisani.
