Orono came out strong dis- playing a solid team effort which resulted in their fifth win of the season,. Scoring didn't begin until 8:34 of the first when Kyle Cox shot it in -on a delivery frorn Deug Garlick. 1-0 Orono. Soon after Orono got their second goal of the game, when Chris Moffat started deep In Orono's end and made his way through the neutral zone te deliver a hard wrist shot high in the rnesh, assistin g on that play was Oron's goalle, Ian Crashley. Nearing the end of the first, Orono gets an, elbowing penalty, but it back fires on Port Perry, when Kyle Allin takes a high shot past Port's bewildered goalie to score shorthanded 3-0 Orono. The jsecond period cornes and with it, many chances for Orono to advance the score. Digging hard in the corners were wingers Andy Bangay and Justin Hill. Port Perry were steadfast and seemed te' build confidence when they scored at the 3:43 mark, end- îng the second period at 3-1 Orono. Orono's players regroup in the third when teammates, Kyle Cox and Jason Geraldi set'up Stevie Gregg, who takes a quîck shet in the cor- ner scoring 4- 1. It wasn't over yet. Orono kept press- ing, and the last goal of the game carne midway through the 'third when Kyle Allin takes a directed pass frorn line mate Taylor Doyle to bury Port Perry final 5-1 Orone. On a defensive note, Justin Caruana, Evan Moore, Bilan Pisani and Chris Moffat depicted strong ability. Stopping an accelerated Port. Perny breakaway was Justin Caruana. The second period previded great action with Kyle Cox taking a wrist shot in the cer- ner to put Orono up by 2. Justin Hill gets his second point of the game when he delivered the assist. -Orono nearly made it, 3-0 when Taylor Doyle teok a nice shot and rang it off the post. With 26 seconds left in the second period, Justin Hill stole the puck from the Oshawa player to go down on net and score. Brian Pisani is credited with the assist. No scoring in the third left Orono with the secure win with much credît going to the defensive skills of Brian Pisani. Chris Moffat, Evan Moore and Justin Caruana, and a well deserved shut-out for Ian Crashley. Final 3-0 Orono. If Orono solidified their next win agalnst Ajax it would be on to the "A" Final. Eleven seconds into the game, Chris Moffat took an excellent backhand shot fromn the. point to start the scoring 1 -0. At 7:43 of the first, Kyle Alin takes a beautiful wrist shot in the top corner and scores. Doug Garlick was there with the assist. 2-0 Orono. At 5:22 Chris Moffat takes it from the neutral zone and carnies it into Ajax's zone to deke the goalie and score unassisted. Orono is now up by 3. Twenty-seven seconds later, Andy Bangay feeds it to Kyle Cox who backhands it in, 4-0. StiR in the first, with 2:26 left, Justin Hill flips it in to make the scoreboard read 5- 0, Andy Bangay and Kyle Cox both assisting on that play, Rounding out the first period with 1: 11 left, Chris Moffat gets the hat trick with a hard shot on net. 6-0 Ojrono. Assisting on that play were Brian- Pisani and Jason Geraldi. Heading into the second period, Ajax had no chance to corne back. The final goal of the game came when Brian Pisani took a long shot from the point,- rattling Ajax's goalie. Andy Bangay assisted on that goal, his third of the game. Ian Crashley iscredit- ed with his second shut-out of the day. 7-0 Orono. Although not getting any points this gaine, but wou~ng very hard, werê Stevie Gregg, Paul Richter and Taylor Doyle, and on defense were Justin Caruana and Evan Moore. The team nPw went on to the "A" Final asainst the host teami of Manvërs. This game was the highlidtIit of the day, a real nail biter ith lots of end to end action. Qrono took two penalties in the first, but managed to go unscathed, due to Ian Cra§hley's superla- tive goaltendifig. The score board was Stijl blank heading into the second'. when Orono is charged with another penalty. Luckl1y Manvers did not capitalize On' it. Thethird p@riod came and neither team Iiad scored up until this poifit. With 2:38 left in the thîrtl. Orono takes yet another penalty, but this time ManverS cashes in on the advantage, With 49 sec- onds left ii the game, Manvers score, and things look grim for Orono. Coach Brian Alun calîs the team over for a qttîck pep talk and it seemed to work. From the face off, with the extra man on, Orono attempts the big corne back. Manvers gets the puck and ices it. This cornes baâck on them when Orono gets the face-o ff deep in Manvers zone. On a well exe- cuted play, Kyle Allun wins the face-off over to Paul Rchter, who quickly got the shot away surprising Manvers' goalie. The game is now tied at 1 -1 and headed for overtirne. That goal was, scored with just 45 seconds left in the gaine. 1With such a dramatic end- ing to the game, they start overtime, but the enthusiasm of the team and crowd was short lived whenManvers captured the "A" Final just 30 seconds into overtime.
