Clarke High School will be playing host to Claude Haggerty Maglc Inc., a travel- ling magic show based out of Niagara Falls. The show, a fundraiser for the school, will start at 7:00 p.m. The show includes many different tricks and illusions, as well as havlng two big cats, a cougar and a Siberian tiger. Claude bas performed at the openlng of the West Edmonton Mail and the 1989 NHL Al-Star Game held in Edmonton. He also per- formed at St. Francis, Kirby, Orono, and the Pines as a lead up to the Clarke show. Above is a picture of Claude and his assistant demon- strating one of his more com- mon illusions. The Clarke show will be spectacular. Over 5 tonnes of equlpment is belng brought down for the show.Tiïckets to the show are only $6.00 per person. WE LOS1iGOUR IDENTÎT'Y,, Bowmanville Business and Professional Women's Club News The Bowmaanville Business and Professional Women's Club held their regular monthly meeting on October 19, 1995 at Port, Darlington Marina. After a delicious dinner Sue Stickley introduced our speaker Margaret Rogers. Margaret Rogers has worked at Visual Arts Centre since 1989. She was a teacher and has an MA in Canadian Studies from Trent' University in Peterborough. Margaret has recently pub- lîshed a book on Alexandria Luke. Margaret Rogers showed slides of vîsual Art Centre, Oshawa Art Gallery and Whitby Station Gallery and explained the history of each gallery. Bowmanville Visual Arts Centre is a his- toric heritage site. It was an old mill with three floors. The original mill was wood- en but when it bumned they used bricks to rebuild. The flrst and. second floors are used with dreams of some day fixing the third floor. There is always activity at the Visual Arts Centre so watch the newspaper for notices. Leslie Pon Tel thanked Margaret Rogers and presented her with a painting by Sylvia Valentine. Sue Stickley was appoint- ed as delegate for the Bowmanville Business and Professional Club at the District General Meeting on October 28, 1995. Approximately 58 people attended District IV annual General Meeting at the Lion's Centre on October 28, 1995. This event was host- ed by the Bowmanville Club. Irene Konzelmann welcomed guests and Jenny Wdoviak, conducted a short business meeting. The luncheon opened with Toasts to, the Queen, Canada and the B & P followed by a delicious hot and cold buffet. Door prizes were also presented. Sue Stîckley introduced Mavis Carleton, a B & P club member in Bowmanville who attended the Beijing Conference with Sharon Selkirk, President of B & P' Clubs of Canada. Mavis showed slides of various buildings and the Great Wall. English was the offi- ciai language but agendas were printed in four other languages so you had to be sure. ru had the right aMen- da. They saw ladies clean- ing streets. 187 countnies were represented and every- one had to wear tags show- ing their pictures when you entered buildings. Many' resolutions to help women and children were discussed at this convention so we- should see if these resolu- tions are obeyed. Nancy Barnes' thanks Mavis and presented her with a gift. The meeting closed with the Emblem Benediction. The next meeting of the Bowmanville Business, and Professional Women's Club will be held at Cafe Cosima on November 16, 1995.
