The first game, on November 17 'against Newcastle Photo was a blow out zone!! Robert Kay #66 was at bis fînest scoring 4 goals. Robert's hard-work and deter- mination rewarded him with his first career "bat trick"~. You deserved if Robert. Keep up the good work! Michael Whelan #4 was again close to his first "bat trick" scoring 2 goals. His sharp shooting and playmak- ing proves to be bis strongest assets. Good job Michael! #14 Denis Beene, #17 Darcy Mitchell, #5 Matt Moffat and # il Kyle Balson all scored a goal to give Geraldi Insuiranceý( anotber victory. Exceýllent work guys!!! Our goaltendinig this week was by #29 Colin Kelly. Colin's quick reflexes and goaltending abilities kept us number one on the score- board. Good going Colinf!! Orono Minor Tyjke Leafs "eat up" SkyIlght Donuts 5-2 On Saturday, November l8th Geraldi Insurance went bead to head against the undefeated Bowmanville Skyligbt Donuts. ln tbe first period #4 Michael Wbelan's long shot managed to sneak past the goalie, assisted by # il Kyle Balson and #2 Matthew Fuller. Team work certainly pays off!! Goal number two was by # 17 Darcy Mitchell on a clear breakaway. Darcy's stick- harodling and pin point accu- racy made for a great goal. Darcy's second goal, just minutes later, was like an instant replay. Assisted by. #88 Jessie Rice, Darcy picked the puck up at our blue line, jumped over an opponents stick, flew down the ice, shot on net, missed, b ut was able f0 pick up the rebound and score!! Good work Darcy!!! Goal number four by #9 Troy Webster whistled past Bowmanville's goalie in the second period, assisted by #66 Robert kay. Good shot Troy! SGoal number five came from a blistering slap shot by #4 Michael Whelan. A great pass by #93 Lucas Leech gives bim the assist. Good going!! Our Orono Leafs play bet- ter and better every week! Great coaching staff and fan tumnout make this hockey so much fun! We will be returning on December 1. 1995 after a short break in our game schedule. BOM Tyler sbould bc bdIk in the Regional Chair Gary Herrema passed away at his home Monday night after a long battie with cancer. 1Mr. Herrema, 57, had held the Regîonal Chair's position since December 1980. He was widely acclaimed and respected in government circles for his visionary leadership, and forthrigbtness on issues. He had previously held a suc- cession of public offices, among them Mayor of the Township of Uxbridge, and prior to Regional Government, as Deputy Reeve of Scott Township and a member -of the Council of the County of Ontario. In addition to his numerous regional responsibilities, he was active in many other organizations, having served on the Board of GO Transit, and on the Board of the Association of Municipalites of Ontario. He was a serving member- of the Durham Region Police Services Board and was Past President of the Association of Counties and Regions of Ontario. Deepest Sympathies go out to his wife Helen, son Ron and wife Mary Anne, daughter Beth and husband Robin, son Howie and wife Liz, and his five grandchil- dren.
