St. Stephen's High Sohool News by Jennïfer Eeuwes Termn one is over and St. Stepheni's is as busy as ever. Students have been taking advantage of the many activ- ities that have been occurring and there seems f0 be a new level of spirit in the sehool. Perhaps some of this spilit came from the grade 12 Religion project that just fin- ishied up. This assignmrent, entitled the "Sugar Baby roetsaw about thirty senir students carry around their *babies' for- thirteen days. These thirteen days were full of decision miaking, budigeting, and parenting. Over ail, this project taught the students involved that parenting is a big job. One student was heard saying, -l arn detinitely not ready f0 be a parent quite yet. It's way too much work!" The most çommonly heard comment about tht s project was: "t was fun but very, very HARD!"ý On the Sports front, bot the girls and the guys have been very busy. Girl's bas- kefball just finished up and try-outs for volleyball are underway. The boys, on the other hand, are stifying fit by playing basketball and hock- ey. Last Wednesday the Senior Boys'lHockey tearn put on quite a Show for- those Who went on the fan bus to watchi their game. It was a liard fouglit mnatch but we were able to tie St. Maryv's 3-3. While miost of the school was out supporting The Pride a group of about thirty stu- dents took a joumney to ail of our feeder schools to showv the grade seven's and eight's just what Sf. Sfephien's hias to0 off ,er. With the principal's words of "Hlave some fun out there" stili rînging in, their ears, they proceeded to put on a show filed with spirit and excifement. The audi- ence seered to enjoy the show and they had a great time parficipating in line dancing, science experimients and a talk show. The stu- dents who took part in this travelling show represented ou r school well, and we hope their hard work paid off when the grade eights decide which high school they will be attending next fali. Thei bi.g news around the schlool riglit now is the pop machine. Not only is it ia new location but it is also a brand new machine. There were somne tense moments as we encountered somne prob- lems early on, but now that it only gives out one cold pop at a tie, the students are again reaping the rewards of this investmient. It is getting a grcat deal of use during the after sehool hours right now as the drama club is doing WINTER,BLISS Family ski trips are special.
