Friday, December 15, Orono Dufferin Aggregate Major Tykes faced off against the Bowmanville Durham T.V. team. Bowmanville began the scoring. earning 2 goals in the first period and one in the sec- ond period. Orono put tliem- selves on the scoreboard in the second period. 'Matt Bester took a difficult shot on net froin the corner and scored assisted by Matt Baxter. Next, Adam Wood burst out of the pack and scored assisted by Shane Winters. -Scoring agaîn for Orono was Matt Bester, after receiving the pass froin Doug DeBoo. At this point the score was 4-3 for Bowmanville with only 2 minutes left in the peni od. Orono Dufferin Aggregate played with a vengeance man- aging shots on the Bowmanville net right into the last 15 sec- onds of the gaine, creating lots of excitement but the score remained 4-3 for Durham T.V. On Saturday, December 16 the Orono Dufferin Aggregate Major Tykes played in Bowmanville against the Bowmanville Rotary Club. Bowmanville began the scoring, scoring twice in the first period. Orono's Matt Bester retaliated and scored unassisted. The Rotary managed to squeeze in 3 more goals. Scoring again for Orono was Cameron Delorme who accepted a pass from Ryan Knox and slammed the puck home. Unfortunately the Leafs did not score again, the final score was 9-2 for the BowmanvilIle Rotary Club. Considering the strength of the Rotary Club team an-d -our pre- vious loss to thein of 14-2, Orono Dufferin Aggregate Major Tykes played well, working liard to narrow the scoring gap and are sure to be an even more cliallenging team next turne. Special recognition to Scott Henderson whose defensive playing has certainly been great. Special tlianks to Johnny Gregg wlio played well in net on Friday,ý and Matt Baxter played a good gaine in net on Saturday and also Sarahi Donnelly, Joshua Flynn, Robyn Henderson, Jonathan Koerssen, Brien Konopka, Heather Maitland and Daniel Reilly. The wliole teain worked liard but could not manage to overcome Bowmanville's goalie to score a goal. Nick did manage to keep the score dlown to a minimum. Good work team!! Geraldi Iris. Second goal was by #4 M ichael Wlielan, assisted by #7 Brandon Ernst. Good play guys, good teain work! Third goal was by #93 Lucus Leecli, assisted by #4 Michael Whelan. Keep it up guys! Fourth goal- was by #7 Brandon Ernst - first goal of lis career, uinassisted. Great skat- ing and puck liandling Brandon! Fiftli goal was by #66 Robert Kay, unassisted. Good work! Sixtli and final goal was by #4 Michael Wlielan, assisted by #7 Brandon Ernst. Our goalie was #29 Nick Williams wlio did an outstand- ing job goalItending. He liad several good saves and was j ust "liopping hot" ail game. Overail the whole team skat- ed liard and played a magnifi- cent gaine. Brandon Ernst worked especially liard, had several breakaways and earned his first goal. # 14 Denis Beenen. and #66 Robert Kaýy duig relentiessly in the coners to get the puck out to their tearn members. Centreman #9 Troy Webster was quick on the draw and #'s 5 Matt Moffat, 33 Colin Kelly, 10 Mark Franko, il Kyle Balson. 2 Matt Fuller, 99 Jake Stockwell, 93 Lucus Leecli, 7 Brandlon Ernst, 4 Michael Wlielan, and 88 Jessie Rice all worked liard to get us this win!!! (United Churcli Women) met on December l3th witli several guiests for their annual potluck lunmcheon. During a brief buisiness meeting, everyone was remind- ed of the upcoinrg Quilt Show and Tea on January 27, 1996. The devotional was led by Edna Cliapman and Dorotliy Robinson. The tlieme "Mary's Chiristmas" took a look at the first Chiristmnas froin the view- point of Mary. The author speculates tliat Mary probably experienced pain, loneliness and fear, but these negatîve feelings were replaced by joy, love and hope when Baby Jesus was born. The devotional was interspersed witli carols sung by all..
