-~ Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, January 10, -1996 -1 Rough Ride For Orono Atom Reps travelled to Millbrook December 28, 1995 for a one day tourna- ment. Orono played well and took a win of 6- 1. Best hus- tier award went to Jamie Rowe and M.V.P. went to D.J. Boardman. They were on the ice again at 3:00 against Manvers. Orono was agaîn ready to play and they showed good team play passing the puck around. Even though they took a win of 8-3, the eManvers players kept goalie Jeif Siemon very busy. Hustier of the game Justin Szymczak, M.V.P. Matt Caruana. Their last game they were playing for the "A" against St. Aiphonsus. This was the roughest game the fans or Orono has scen. The teams were evenly matched and shots on net were also evenly matched. The game was tied in the first and then Orono took the lead, withdlots of shoving in front of the net. after every goal or shot, that was taken on eithier net. Things got tough in the third with both teams rackiiig up penalties and Boardman get- ting kicked out and suspend- ed for the next game. Orono looked slow and unorganized but managed to win 6-2. The only thing that these two teams had in common was their penalty minutes. Orono raked up 33 minutes and Bewdley 23 minutes, with Aaroni Robinison being kicked out and suspended for one game. This win set the stage for an "A" Championship gamie aganst Port Hope. These two teams were very evenly matched and thec first goal for Port Hope cane off a miscue by the defence and a bounc- ing puck getting away from the goalie. Play was end to end with Port Hope having the edge'in play. n the sec- ond period Hill and Allun almost post one off the open- ing face-off and Crashley was kept pretty busy. Finally at 4:06, Dougie G. (not Gilmour i) put Orono back into the game with a beautiful goal off a breakaway. This seemed to turn the team on and Orono got several chances to take the lead. Orono had the man advantage. Port Hope went up 2-1 at 4:33. Orono had a chance to tie it up as Pisani carried the puck ail the way bu t was unable to put it between the pipes. The final straw was Port Hope's 3rd goal with 1 minute remain- ing. Orono did not give up though and with the goalie pulled dominated play but the buzzer ended their hopes for an "A" Championship. The boys deserved their cheers from the crowd as they put in a hard day of hockey.
