Both sides were digging bard right from the face-off, but Orono came up strong, until late in the first when Ops took advantage to put Orono behind 1 -0. They quickly go behind 2-0 in the second, and are left with one period to- start hustling. In the third at, 8:04 Kyle Cox delivers a dlean backhand that slid through Ops net. Credited witb the assists are: Justin Hill and Evan Moore. 2-1 Ops. Orono pulled their goalie late in the game, but Ops prevailed for the win. Final 2-1 Ops. Noteworthy: Playing heads up hoc key were: defenceman Brian Pisani and Justin Caruana. Iioing a good job clearing the puck were: Chris Moffat and Evan Moore. Orono's second game of the week was on Sunday, January 14, a make-up ga me for the December 3 match-up due to inclement weather against Omemee. The first period showed Orono pressing bard right from the get go witb Kyle Cox and Stevie Gregg just missing an opportunity to score and- coming, up empty. No scoring in the first period, the'second went on to show a bit more action. The first goal of the game came at 8:52 of the second, when Doug Garlick canried the puck deep into Omemee's zone, for a shot on net that rebounded rigbt to Justin Hill's stick, who then directed it in. 1-0 Orono. Stili iin the second, at 6:16, when Kyle Allun takes a bigb shot into the mesh to put the score at 2-0. Assîsting on that play was: Justin Hill and Doug Garlick. Witb Orono stili pressing Taylor Doyle wires Goal by #*4 Michael Wbelan, assisted by #*14 Denis Beenen - bis third assist of this game. Good work. We go on to the third to witness Kyle Allin's second goal of the game, which proved to be the go ahead goal. At 9: 10 he accepts a strong pass from Ta ylor Doyle to fire it in. 3-1 Orono. Omemee almost made it 3-2, but goalie Ian Crasbley came up witb an outstanding sprawling save tbwarting Omemee's attempt at a comeback. Don Cherry would have liked that one. Jas-on Geraldi had a good chance to score when he got a bold of the puck in the neutral zone, and went down on net to take a shot, but came up empty. Omemiee scores late in the third making it 3-2. At that point they pulled their goalie, and Paul Richter just comes shy of an empty netter. Final Orono 3 - Omemee 2. As always, our defensive core, consisting of: Chris Moffat, Bilan Pisani, Justin Caruana and Evan Moore came up strong. Goalie Ian Crasbley was a decisive component to determine the solid win against Omemee. This ends Orono's MajorPlumbing Novice's regular season schedule. They now look forward to the play offs.
